The Spoils of Capitalism!!

I have seen some amazing homes in the background here on the bbs. Mike Zs view of the Pacific and Jack Os place come to mind.

Well the cherry blossoms are out full blast in GA so I thought I would try and get a pic with the car.

When I looked I realized how fortunate I am to be in america and to have been as successful as I am. Most of the time I still feel poor but I guess I cant complain. With a minimal amount of work and some conscientous money managing I am doing "better than I deserve".

Thats my wife riding her horse and my small horsefarm in the background. If I did not have the horses I could afford much nicer cars :-))

Lets see yours!

I had my turn, now it's the kid's.

Wind in the face.

A big race kart (FM) and faster wind.

The one on the left is what he has, the one on the right is what he wants.

Of course this silliness is on semi-hold until college graduation.
First things first.

Best,
Grady

There are some gorgeous homes owned by members of this BBS. But mine is just an 80-year-old one-storey with barely enough ground around it to fit the fence.

The realities of inflation, big-city living -- and capitalism, I guess -- dictate that a house half the size of my parents' cost me about 30 times more than they paid for theirs.

E.W. The car looks awesome by the way, as does the ranch.

Jack, you nailed that one...it's all relative, it's all location. I and a close friend talked about that, many times, many years ago. The price of his 1,000 sq. ft. multi-story digs in a "Buckingham Mews" address in London would have bought my 2,400 sq. ranch house on 1 1/2 acres in Oregon's Willamette Valley eight times over. I tried to explain what he could buy here for the same money. He rightly responded, "It's all relative." This friend is no longer with this planet. Damn, how I miss our exchanges...each expounding the glories & downsides of our chosen lifestyles. But you know? It was our mutual love of Porsches that made us connect in the first place. He a USA expatriot with a Phd from a prestigious Ivy League school, me a county bumpkin from Orygun. I'll always wonder why he bothered to keep communicating with me... RIP, Tony Standen!

Grady? Keep that kid away from Hollyweird...He makes Brad Pitt look ugly....Ohhh, to have looked that good, EVER! Grady, you must be beating off hordes of hopeful girls with a baseball bat..If any here doubt me? Show Grady's pics to your teenaged daugher, if you have one. Then chain her down, or she'll be headed to Denver, adding to Grady's problems. !

Paul,

He knows.

When he was an 8th grade middle school student, he had a HS Sophomore girl friend. HS was similar. His current friend Freshman year is a Junior. Her family owns 380,000 acres in Montana in addition to leased BLM land. He is going to college where the girls outnumber the boys 3:1.

That said, he has a pretty good perspective on life. College academics have turned out to be more difficult than he anticipated. He has knuckled down and has a 3.2+ in spite of all the distractions of girls, college freedom, and fraternity life.

He e-mailed me this week wanting advice on the Pi Kappa Alpha Chapter gaining access to an antique (1923) fire engine.

In the past couple of years he has made significant progress completing the collections of Panorama and Christophorus. He will be a great caretaker for the next Porsche generation.

Best,
Grady

Audi2.7t, it's all relative. I'd have sold a 3.0RS for it too, heck, even an RSR pales in comparison to a safe, own house.
The view's not too bad, either.

mr. lombard, you need to give me a call...

I'll PM you the new number.

My stats.

I don't have a good pic yet...2 car garage main floor, one car into 48 feet deep basement. each floor is about 1000-1300 sq feet. owned by a professional decorator...all hardwood. so 2600 sq feet without the basment.
