How to run a wire from engine to dash?

I'm installing a VDO cylinder head temperature gauge and can't figure out the best route to run the wires from the dash to the spark plug. I think there's a wiring harness that goes through the firewall just above the shift coupler between the rear seats. Any other easier locations? Thats a bear to pull through from the engine side and route up to the plug.

Thanks, Graham

I ran a wire from my engine for my MAF sensor down the back of the engine on the driveres side and followed the brake line (i think, it was a line running from front to back, that way you can tuck the wire up and use the clips that hold the line to hold the wire) I then ran it up into the drivers side front wheel well. There I found a way to fish it past a gasket, may have been the gas tank filler, and into the front trunk. From there you have access to the back of the dash and all of you gagues. I did it and it is complete unnoticable nd completely reversable, never had to drill any holes.

The fuel line goes in the tunnel via a grommet on the driverside of the tunnel. It is very accessible via the shift coupler access door, use a stiff wire to snake it in the grommet and then to run it up to the dash area through the tunnel. Should not be too bad. the other option is to make your own hole and seal it afterwards. I don't favor making new openings for rust to start at but it will work. See previous post for tunnel configuration. It would be best to put it in one of the side tracks.

Lou,

Those are great pics! I'm not sure when, why, or for what, but I'm saving them as reference for whenever I need them. Yours is the first of many I plan to add to my own personal reference "book."

Thanks!!!

Randy

example of how to run wires into the tunnel - grommet & sheathing for wire (Varflex, claimed to be what Boing uses) - red is a rust inhibiting paint under the grommet
