Need more power....what to do?

OK, I've decided that the stock 3.2 in my Turbolook is not enough.

One neighbor has a Ferrari 355, another has an '04 996 TT and yet another has a Countach and just put an order in for believe it or not a CGT. I'm having feelings of inadequacy.

But seriously, my car is like pristine and I do not want to "hurt" it.

So, what to do? Buy a 930 engine and transplant it?
3.6 ????
Buy a real turbo?? But that car would have to be in as great shape as my current ride.

I'm having serious trouble here. Please feel free to comment and give opinions.

Troubled in Brooklyn.

I'd get a 3.6 instead of a turbo.

Ron offered really sound advice.

With a Varioram 3.6 and a good set of close-ratio gears, your Turbo-look becomes a totally different animal. You can also add RS cams and intake valves, and a good chip for even more performance.

With the proper exhaust and the above mods, this is a 310+ HP package that will surprise your friends, especially if you lighten the car a bit.

The problem isn't your car, it's your neighbors. I suggest you just move. Simpler and cheaper in the long run.

Although the 3.6 would be my choice- you coould always bolt on a supercharger which would be good for more HP than the 3.6!!!
Just do a search for superchargers, there has been ton of stuff researched and discussed already on this.

Trade it for a Turbo and save yourself the troubles and $0 resale value of a heavily modded car.

Or do what I did and buy a WRX........sure - it aint' pretty but it's fast.

Keeping up with that kind of crowd is typically a losing endeavor. That said, a supercharged 3.6 would be very, very fun.

All this talk of WRXs makes me want to vomit. Keep the car you have and do the 3.6 or get a 930 to go with your current P car but at all cost dont go out and become just another number and buy a WRX. Keep your P cars and be unique! Besides a WRX on its best day will have to go a long long way to try to catch most any Porsche turbo. The 930 is a great car, dont be scared of them. They are soooo much fun!

Im sure Im going to get all kinds of crap for my comments but my opinion was asked for, so I said it.

Just my .05.............................C

Victor, why are you still on this board, a PORSCHE board, if you are obviously so elated that you traded in your Porsche for a Subaru? Why not move on and spend your time discussing your car with other fellow Subaru owners instead of bashing Porsche owners - either overtly or subtly?

I mean, honestly! What's the point anyway?

How about dog sizes? Is yours bigger than theirs? Dogs, I mean, if you have a dog.

But seriously, I have a neighbor with a 996 cab, and he's looking desperately to ditch it. He's going purist with the air-cooled thing, and looking at a 993 variant. Sez he made a "big mistake" getting rid of his last 993.

Moral of this little story: those who know also understand the newest cars with all their power, aren't necessarily the best cars.

I did the modified 3.2 motor. Nice engine, SSI's, 964 cams, matching chip sport muffler. Now I am building a 3.6 for it.......

I do not have the 3.6 don eyet (hey Steve, how are my heads comming?) but I am looking forward to the extra power. I might put the 3.2 into a 914 that I hope to pick up this week.

Jeff

Uh hang on - I did first recommend that MY65912:

"Trade it for a Turbo and save yourself the troubles and $0 resale value of a heavily modded car."

Relax. These are just cars and this is just a chat board.

As for the WRX thing/debate, It depends on who is behind the wheel of each vehicle. I am no Mario but the one we see at the track seems to look at a lot of blue flags and the driver is very curteous and always moves over for me...
