accumulator installation tricks?
i got my fuel accumulator (thanks to Elfer) and am planning on putting it in this afternoon, but i wanted to see if the pelican guru's had any advie prior to doing this. any tricks or tips i should know about? seems pretty straight forward, but i dont want to run into something mid-fix that i wasnt aware of...lemme know before i break something else...thanks everyone

Pretty easy to do, but access is kid of a hassle. I think I removed my filter to get to the accumulator but it's been a couple of years. Make sure you use two wrenches to back it up, otherwise it's a no brainer (famous last words).

i like flare end wrenches, but i have done without. you will need to prime the system afterwards. jump the fuel pump at the relay. 30 and 87a (??? verify please) w/ 8amp fused link, and lift the air sensor bar until you hear the injectors squeal/humm. usually takes just a few seconds. at least i have to jump the terminals on my 81SC. maybe another can verify about your 79. should be a no brainer.

That was my first project! 2 months ago. Not hard at all, just loosen the bottom nut and when everything else is ready and off unscrew the bottom nut and put a finger over it and carry to the lawnmower or wherever you need a cup of gas. Install was easy and do prime as it will start easier. I know. No more warm starts either!

follow up after the installation....i got the accumulator in fine, not too bad, although the bottom nut was a bit tighter than i wanted. i am very pleased with the results. i just wanted the hot starts to be easier, but it also smoothed out the engine a bit and there was a hesitation at around 2200rpm that is gone now, so i got three times the fix!!...one small thing though, now when it starts hot, it revs up then almosts dies, then osocillates as it slowly comes to a normal idle, and in about 5 seconds, the idle is fine. it really doesnt bother me, and it could just be the accumulator adjusting, i didnt get a chance to drive it, but does anyone know what this might be and how to fix it?? thanks
