Dansk doesn't seem to fit...
 

What am I missing here. I am trying to install a 1 in 2 out dansk on my 86 coupe. The valence is removed. I have tried to line up the intake with my cat bypass pipe but the driver's side muffler pipe bumps up against the lower bumper. Has anyone had this problem???

I cant see enough of it...dose the other part need to be loosened and slid a head??

maybe you need a spacer there?

I agree with afterburn, take four or five more pics from below and looking back the opposite direction and post them.

Well from the pics shown, it looks like the muffler needs to be rotated upward, as the tips are way too low, even with the valance removed.

I had a 1-in 2-out Dansk just like yours previously when my motor was a 3.2L, and it fit fine. Others haven't apparently been so fortunate.

I now have the same basic muffler, except it is now a 2-in and 2-out because I am using headers. This muffler also fits fine.

What I am noticing is that the lower bumper is wrapped around toward the rear of the car more on the left than the right, creating the clearance problem. The right side sits fine. Is your lower bumper situated this way? The muffler looks like it is turned down because it is just sitting on jackstands and tends to rotate down with the weight of the pipes when I'm not holding it.

No, I didn't have to modify the left side at all, but will admit that the muffler did come fairly close to causing an interference problem.

Thanks for clarifying regarding the jackstands/tip orientation, I couldn't figure out how the tips could sit that low!

my passenger side was about 1inch lower than the driver's side. returned and exchanged 3x. all did the same. finally, had to cut, turn and weld to get it to fit. good luck.

O.K., finally got the bugger on. I loosened up the nuts connecting the bypass pipe and then tightened everything together. Fired it up and it sounds awesome! Not ricer like, but kinda throaty. It also looks better than I thought without the rear valence. Now if I can just get the OEM straps to fit...

p.s. Hey AW, how did you get your bumperettes off? That was part two of this project, but they are glued on there good. I'm afraid to rip at them too hard. Any advice?

I was afraid someone would say that about the Dansk two outlet muffler. Isn't there a Dansk rep that posts on this forum? What does he have to say about this design/assembly error that's being sold? :confused:

Glad to see you got it on OK, how did you deal with the outlets being at different angles?

And I was going to post that I thought you had the wrong muffler, then I see that you got it on. Anyway, if this question comes up in the future, keep in mind that the 3.2 muffler is different than an SC muffler, in that the 3.2 has an indention to accommodate a bypass (edit: crossover) pipe, where the SC does not. I found this out the hard way...so read and benefit from my mistake.

I am glad it worked out, the dual out Dansk on a 3.2 sounds great.

FWIW my passenger side outlet pipe also hangs ~.5 inches lower than the drivers side.

I had posted earlier on the installation of a 1 in, 2 out Fabspeed. I recommended exactly what you did for fitment. Good job, BTW!
Always, when installing aftermarket headers, SSI, pre-muffler, sport mufflers, its a good idea to loosen items within the chain and tighten in increments for quality of fitment.
Now turn down the radio, and enjoy the real music.

To get the bumperettes off, you sometimes have to put the nuts back on (not all the way) and hit then with a hammer in order to loosen the bumperettes from the bumper. They do seem like they are glued on but they are not.

Yep, that was the Dansk stainless pre-muffler I used to run. Sold to a local Pelicanite.

Where did you get the muffler? What is the P/N? The earlier version did not have the relief for the heater cross over pipe. Don't ask how I know, but I think I've seen this before.
