Yet another perfect WEVO product.
I tested the new prototype WEVO trans mount bar this last weekend. It worked perfectly with my WEVO Semi-Solid motor mounts. After removing my old OEM trans bar mount and looking at the old cracked rubber, no wonder it was hard to shift while coming out of low gear/high exit speed corners. The trans/and motor would shift to one side. That little movement on the tranny/motor can wreak havoc while trying to shift. Well, not anymore. It worked like a champ.
I did some personal "Quality Control" and flew off Willow Springs at around 120 mph. It held up nicely :) Here are some pictures of it installed on the car. Very easy to install. The quality is what you would expect from WEVO. Typical WEVO Jewelry. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1114475029.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1114475048.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1114475056.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1114475083.jpg |
Scheez your car is clean under there - thats a little neurotic dont you think :-))
Looks great, I really noticed a diff on the street when I put new sport/ solid mounts in my car. |
Beautiful.
Of course, Hayden and his company have us expecting nothing less. ;) |
Indeed, Hayden seems to have a great niche carved out. I just got some new WEVO parts, and they are SPECTACULAR!
Wish I could go into detail....... but I will in due time... ;) |
Hehe, I know the feeling ;)
|
Any chance of a G50 version? I put sport motor mounts in but still have the old stock tranny mount. I haven't seen any sport replacements available for the G50.
|
 I was just trying to figure out where I could get something like that for my new tranny.
|
Ok, I just might have to stop frequenting this site... It is costing me too much $$$... When do we get to do a group buy on those sweet Wevo motor/tranny mounts!!!;)
|
Nice. I echo Noah's questions. As well, is it lighter than the stock mount?
|
Chad I swear if you keep your transmission that clean we'll kick you out of Gruppe B
|
Whats the big diff between this and new mounts from Porsche?

Another question...would you all who have both the WEVO trans and motor mounts say they are too firm for the street?

What about the install? Whats invovled putting this in? I am having similar problems as you describe and looking for a similar solution.
|
As Noah mentioned, I'm a little confused about the part; doesn't the 915 tranny cross member allow one to change the mounts? I know the G50 has the mounts built in, but it looks like Plavan has a 915.

Hayden??

Chad, do you RACE that car or just polish it?
Where is the grease all over the trans, caused by it centrifuging out past those pristine blue gaskets? Just kidding. Hayden's stuff is the bomb. |
Isn't that a 901 trans in Chad's car?
|
Hi guys,
Sorry, I was out polishing the underside of the car :). That is a 901 tranny. A late mag case (the only 901 case a Guard 80% LSD will fit in at the moment). The OEM 901 transmission cross bar rubber mounts are not removable. So if you have a 901 you are stuck with the old cracked, rotting rubber. That is unless you drill out/burn out the old rubber and weld in metal mounts. The blue material is the same that is on WEVO's semi-solid motor mounts. There are different schools of thoughts on solid metal mounts anywhere on the drive train. Metal mounts distribute harmonics throughout the motor, induction system, and transmission. I'm no engineer, but I do not want to risk any type of damage to my expensive race builds. I'm not sure about the 915 tranny questions. I do know they are removable, unlike the 901 transmission. I'm sure Hayden will pop on this thread and answer the technical questions. Why is my under side so clean? I just had the motor, and trans out. The trans had some new gears put in and an LSD. Media blast the outside of everything then clear coat :). Wipes up nicely. |
