915/40 gear ratio
Hello,
Does anybody know of a list of the existing 915 types against the stock gear ratios used? I have a 915/40 tranny (mag case from a 2.7 ltr 1976) and would like to know the stock ratios and ring/pinion in there. With seach, I couldn't find that info. Thanks in advance, Walter |

Walter,
Welcome to the Forum. A 915/40 is a 1975 5-speed 911S, 911S/C (USA). If as originally delivered its gearing is: 1st – 11:35 2nd – 18:33 3rd – 23:29 4th – 26:26 5th – 28:23 R&P – 8:31 It should have a serial number in the form: 715XXXX starting with 7150001 Best, Grady

Thanks guys,
You rock! Most of the serial number has been grinded off from shoving the case around the garage floor, but the type number should be conclusive enough I guess. Tnx, Walter |
