Question Boxter 3.2l install

How hard(time/$$) would it be to install a boxter 3.2l in my 74'S?

Extremely difficult and likely hideously expensive.
Assuming you had a good used motor, you would still need some method of plumbing the cooling system, plumbing for a hydraulic clutch, Wiring (Motronic\CAN bus).

Further, you would need a boxster transmission - a 901\915\930 transmission would not bolt up to a boxster motor.

You would also need to find some method of mounting the engine\transmission. - the boxster motor uses a completely different mounting system.

You would probably be money ahead just to buy a boxster.

IF you were to go to the trouble, 996 engines which would at least be in the correct orientation in regards to tranny and are not going for that much. Same money, same high effort, has been done before with possibly great results. I know, the Boxster engines are going for reallly cheap. I think it really depends on how much of the Boxster you can get (ecu, axles, tranny, wiring harness). If you can build a kitcar and install a Porsche engine, I don't know why you could fab one up to fit in a Porsche. Figure, guys have put 928 engines in 914's.......SURE a 996 style engine will fit.

Yikes!! never mind!

Sounds like it would be harder than a small block chevy install.

A 996 engine would cost allot more than a Boxter motor wouldn't it?
