Very imprssive work. It takes guts to slice that section out.
Question: Did you you use three sections of "rail" for the studs? I'm not thinking it would be easy to bend it to contour to the sides.

RickM, I took a long piece of square pipe and cut it in half length wise. It's a solid piece, so no bending was involved.

This "support rod" that is embedded in the rubber tail and has to be cut out - does anyone have a photo of what it looks like (the one in this example was completely dissolved by oxidation!).

BeauBlues, could you tell us exactly what glue you used? Brand name, source, etc.? That glue could possibly be used in many places.
