Which Oil line is Which??
I'm getting ready to install a 2ndary oil cooler to keep from frying the Vram I installed in my '86 Carrera. My second oil cooler will be mounted up front in series with the stock oil cooler in the passenger side wheel well. I want the hot oil from the thermostat to got to the stock cooler first and then to the front mount then back to the oil tank. In order to do this I need to know which line off the stock themostat(in rear fender well) is outgoing and which is return.

"I" usually cut into the line coming out of the side of the engine case....if you do already have an external cooler in the fender well. If you do, add one in a series with the other one....run a splitter style front piece and mount the second cooler up there.
I needed two coolers for my 3.6 SC....

BTW...Pegasus and BAT Inc carry the coolers, lines and conversion fittings you need.

Start at the oil tank. The hose that runs from the thermostat to the tank is the RETURN line TO the tank. At the thermostat, the line that goes forward and is CLOSEST to the RETURN line is the RETURN from the front oil cooler.
Y'know, I almost think I remember little arrows on the thermostat that show the flow direction. but I may be remembering a picture from the manual -- which is at home right now. Does that help? |

Thanks Brian to look at the thermostat, there's no way to know unless someone can tell me.
