Cleaning MAS

Here are a couple of inks from the Ford guys on how to clean the MAS... remember, the Autothority is basically a Ford MAS!

BTW, I wouldn't touch those wires with a Q-tip or anything for that matter, just spray it to remove any gunk.

Good luck,
Darrell

Fixed Idle Surge

Just wanted to post that I was able to fix my idle surge from cold start by turning the pot about 20 counter clockwise (started with small increments) and slightly adjusting the ICV to get the rpm I wanted. Since I do not have a way to measure the A/F ratio, I will do the fine tuning when I take it to my mechanic so I can pass emissions testing next year. However, I was hoping this would also solve my very slight backfire I was getting during deceleration from a hard run (near redline shifting). I guess this might get fixed when I adjust the a/f mixture at the shop.

Hope this info has helped you don911 and that you did not give up! If you have tried adjusting the potentialmeter then it is possible that your pot may not be working properly. You should try calling Autothority to see if you can purchase this part (WIR.911.100 MFS Wiring Harness was the part number that another Pelican member had posted).

Good luck,
Darrell

I know this is an old post but it helped me today so I'd like to add this ... An 88 I recently picked up with an Autothority MAS had started an odd behavior - cold start was fine and it ran great hot till I parked it for half an hour then tried to drive it again. It would idle hunt badly and sputter until the RPMs got above 3000. Problem turned out to be a loose wire in the factory harness connector that the MAS harness plugs into. The installer had bent the cables back onto themselves and strapped it all together too tight causing stress on the wires.
