Does anyone make a prefabed rear shock crossmember ?
I want a weld in type custom rear shock crossmember that will take the place of the stock unit . I want more strength since im going with coilovers and a heavy engine/tranny combo (c2 turbo engine and a G50). Anyone have any leads or who to call ? Im sure I could make it myself but my time is harder to find than $$ . Ive been sitting on this project now for 18 months and have to get this finished soon .

Kurt,
Check with Doug Arnao at VCI in Dover NJ. I know he makes a custom one. Look on his website under customer cars Dan Jacobs

Kurt,
I would consider buying a new Factory part and modifying it both internally and externally to reinforce it and make it fit your needs. I think the latest part that will fit is 964.501.075.00 “Rear Axle Cross Support.” Clearly a 993 part won’t fit. Best, Grady

I do have one from a 911sc and could easily add the truss (supports) . Im just interested in my other options . Im assuming that the area between the firewall and crossmember will not be easy to properly weld since there is no clearance. For that reason Ive been seeking other options before I begin.
I will not be using a roll cage and all the custom types ive seen so far look dependent on a cage . Kurt Williams

Kurt,
When did Porsche weld the leading edge of the Rear axle cross support to the firewall? BTW, do you know anyone in your neck of the woods interested in a Bluebird (510)? Unmolested ’72, 2-door, 112K, original paint, 2-owner, no rust California car. Best, Grady

Maybe me . I have a hot nissan 3.0 turbo engine(354 rwhp) looking for a home . Also I like the simmple lines of those cars . Is it a all orig car or is it ready for a motor swap . Im interested . Send me more info . kurt@digitalprovisions.com
As for the welding ? Are you saying that the area toward the front of the car directly behind(not to) the firewall is not welded ? I have not removed mine yet but the SC unit looks like it was spot welded all around .

Grady I think I would have even more interest if the car was all or close to original . Let me know the details .
