Matteo,
You are blessed with a beautiful little girl, she has that glint in her eye like your going to suffer hard in another 15 years or so! I have a 2 year old daughter myself... The wheels look nice too!

Good tire choice, too. You're going to love them!
The paint is satin, and the wheels are polished. They tend to look more like chrome in photographs than they do in real life.

Of course, as an engineer, I was admiring the welds... :>)
Nice wheels! What size are those? Mike

Thanks guys...
The wheel in the picture is an 11' with a 315/35-17 BFG tire. For the front I have chosen 9.5' with 275/40-17. Mike Lindsey (great guy) worked with us so that we will not have any spacers (well just to clear the caliper) and we are going to fill the flares. This is why we waited until the wheels were here before cutting and welding the 930 style flares. Jack is right, the wheels are polished, not chromed. Also the black inside is glossy as opposed to matt. I told Mike to go with what he thought looked best.. I am very very pleased with the results... Terry Little girl is 2 year old. You are right.. she just looks at me and I melt.... And she's got a little 5 month old sister... I am doomed, but feel like the king of the castle!!! Last edited by 911teo; 04-20-2005 at 04:51 AM.. |

911teo, congratulations for the pretty girl and the wheels. Can't say a lot about girls because I have two boys, but can about the Lindsey wheels; they are great! I have 11" & 8" P2's also, with 315 & 245 and the improvement on the car handling is awesome, and a lot more precise. As you said, Mike works with you until you get it right. I'm a mech engineer and can tell you that the quality of Mike welding is A+. I was initially concerned because the amount of rubber under the fenders, but I'm so pleased after taking the car to the track - no rubbing at all and feels on rails. Enjoy them.

They don't make 9' anymore... only 9.5'.
I must say I thought these wheels were really competitively priced. I paid 2k for the wheels at my door (and Mike Lindsey mounted the tires as well). We know (thanks to Jack Olsen) that these wheels are light and can take the abuse on the track... For me they are a no brainer... especially when u see pairs of used 16x9 Fuchs going for 1k.... |

Yeah, I may have been the first 'early adopter' of the Lindseys, at least from the 911 world. The Lindsey brothers had been running a set on their 944 race car for 5 years when I got them to make me a set, back in 2002. I've been running them ever since (four sets so far: 8x9x17, 8x10x17 and now two sets of 9.5x11x17) without any problems whatsoever (and if you follow the 911 forums, you know that my wheels see track use every month, all year round).

The wheels look great, I was wondering if the 9.5x17 would fit the rear of a early car with RS flares? I have been looking for 16x8 or 9's for a while now and the prices are threw the roof. Anyone stagger with 16 in front and 17 in the rear?

I think you can fit 275 under a Carrera rear flare... In fact I think IROC aka Mike is running 17/275 on his SC.
I'd say get new 8/17s for the front and 9.5/17s for the rears... and sell your 16s... |

Jack or anyone else, could they (or have they) made a 16x9 or 16x8?

Lindsey will make you three-piece 16's, but not two-piece. At least not according to Lindsey's web page. I only inquired about 17's last I spoke to Mike.
Gary Stratton will make 16's from donor 16x7 Fuchs. I dunno if his are two or three-piece though. Prices on Gary's are hard to pass up. See Gary's post here: Gary Stratton Custom Fuchs Info. Seems he's eager to make whatever you want. Just give him a call. I'm very tempted myself! His prices on 8's and 9's are a deal compared to what you gotta pay for good standard 16x8, 9 Fuchs. I'm still on the fence whether to get factory 9's or Gary's 9's. ![]()
