'97 993 Turbo meets baseball bat

Poor thing...only 17K miles on the clock...what a waste. That is my dream car, a dark blue 993 Turbo, last of the air-cooled ones.

I hope they caught the bastards who did this. Its one thing to steal a car, but to intentionally destroy it is unforgivable.

More gruesome pics here: http://www.readytofix.com/Inventory/911_Turbo_97_Theft.htm

Dam ! I think I would have bought that had I seen it before it was sold . That would have made for the ultimate backdate car .

Wow...that would make a killer backdated RSR look, you're right! What a phoenix that would be!

www.readytofix.com has lots of other salvage Turbos, and has pretty decent prices on them...take you pick!

Crap! The engine is worth about as much as they wanted for the car.
You'd have to do a lot of convincing to keep me from putting the people responsible for that 'to sleep.'

When I fist saw it I thought, "wife caught someone having an affair."

Their prices did seem low...they have tons of turbos...I'm eyeing the 1996 with the electrical fire. Faulty wiring for a stereo amp, Doh! Perfect candidate for racing seats/interior.

Two years ago, I saw a C2 Cab that was attacked by the ex-boyfriend while the guy was overnighting at her house.

Every panel was pushed in; windshield broken and acid poured on all 4 corners.

The owner used the opportunity to do a widebody conversion. He said the woman was worth it.

It may look bad but that would be an easy fix for a good bodyman.

We had yellow twin turbo at an event a few years ago that had been vandalized with a hammer or bat.

I'd buy one of the 12 cylinder Ferraris just to hear the sound in my garage at night over a couple of beers after mowing the lawn. Neighbors would love it.

The 911's could make great track car conversions. However anyone of the stolen cars would concern me about the engines not starting. Could be just a battery but then again could be the butthead that stole it floored the engine until the it broke.

I agree with 350HP930. If no structural or drivetrain damage, body panels can be repaired. Insurance usually estimates using brand new replacement parts which may explain why it's considered a total. Whats the going rate for a clean '97 driver?

The link on the bottom of the page is to a place called "AutoSource-online"...when I was searching for my first 911, I saw their websites (and auctions) and was never able to actually buy any of their cars. Turns out they didn't actually sell cars but only sold memberships to gain access to their list. Smelled like BS to me so I declined. I'd be curious to know if anyone else has a different experience with them and/or has actually managed to buy a real car from them.

That car would have been seriously easy to fix. New window quarter and hood no? Damn if I was there...

I think Janus is right...you can't contact this lot except by email, and even then you don't get a real reply but a reference to AutoSource. Those cars are obviously real, but they are just to tempt you into paying the $15. Then, "sorry, that one sold, heres one for 35K" scam. If it sounds too good to be true...

Around 1994 a friend told me a story about a customer of his and it goes something like this: A husband and wife are getting a divorce and the wife keeps rubbing in that she is going to get half of his C2, you almost know where this story is going, he stripped it down to the shell, sold the shell real cheap with a good title for like $2,000 which back then was a awsum deal and split the money with her. Ouch.
