Are Lindsey Fuchs safe for track?

I've seen some nasty photos of aftermarket Fuchs failures. Anyone here running Lindsey's and how are they? Thanks.

RL, Jack O. is running them on BBII and Jamie Novak is running Jack's old Lindsey's from BBI on his ST replica.

Jack Olsen, amongst others, has been running them for more than 1yr... street/track.

I think he's very happy. Others are Porsche Doc (www.aircooledclassics.com) etc...
72 RSR project

I think they have proven to be a safe choice.

Ok, next questions. Can I fit the 9.5x17's on my SC rear without rolling the fenders? Car is VERY low.

Since no part of a Lindsay Fuch is cast one shouldn't ever see those dramatic fracture failures that you see on the aftermarket cast Fuchs.

Yes you can fit them. They have the correct offset.

The Fakes use a cast center. Teh pictures you see are the weak (relative) cast spokes that have broken free. Lindsey welds a factory forged Fuch's center into a new outer rim. Great design.

OH yeah, they look cool too!

is there a reason why they don't make 15's? availability of barrels? it's hard to believe that thorughout the motorsports world no one uses/makes 15" wheels....

Jamie, I wasn't worried about the offsets, but rather tire rubbing.

Mine are sporting 275 rear rubber. No issues. I did have to massage a rear oil line above the spring plate. This was a few extra tie down clamps and I flattened it slightly with a block of wood. Of course, it was just the front edge rubbing and I had not set toe yet. All is fine now and I can slide a full set of fingers between the two. Oh yeah, my car has been lowered where there is about an inch of tire behind the wheel arch.

Rick,

Is there some specific reason you must have 17 in. wheels?

Otherwise you can get 2 piece custom 16 in. Fuchs for about the same price as the 17's and save a bit of weight in tires. Would give up a little grip with 16's, but gain a little bit of acceleration over 17's.

Custom 16 in. 2 piece Fuchs

One thing i'd be curious about is brake clearance for bigger brakes like 930 or 993 calipers.

No, just wondering if I can get the max. amount of ruber on the road. Will probably go with 9x16's once I get some other stuff dealt with. I really need to sell my 996 17" twists.
