Alignment question
Hey guys, got the 9x17's stuffed in the back of the 912-6 this weekend, gotta change the alignment to get the tires to fit. Running 205 and 255 toyo ra1's.
Started working on it tonight, got the rear raised a hair and went from 0 to -3 degees of neg on one side, wondering if this is too much? Borrowed a killer digital level, makes adjustments a snap. I see everyone talking about -2. Have to do the pass side still, need to balance the camber

The trend seems to be that when you go to wider wheels and tires you would want to reduce the amount of negative camber to maximize the contact patch and handling performance.

I believe Joe is correct. From a handling perspective you want less neg camber with wider tires. For fit more may be required, so then does that mean that the tires are more for looks than performance? Seems that way.

I was going by what specs I found on the track forum, getting the car ready for my next DE. I rarely drive the car on the street. Got a copy of the Ray Scruggs book on alignments, he said a competition alignment should have 2-3 deg negative camber in the rear, but 0 for a street alignment. I'm just wanting to know if -3 is too much for my setup.

I bet you wont get that much on the other side. I would run as much as you can both sides balanced. I think Ray says that in hs book.

I got 2.2 deg (love that digital level) on the pass side tonight, so I'll back the drive side back down a hair to try and match it, then attack the toe tomorrow night.

I'm getting close to done. Toe was only out on pass side rear, +1/8". Adjusted that, then measured camber again and pass side lost another half degree, gonna try and re-adjust tonight. Now I'm -2.3 on the drivers side, -1.7 on the pass.
Front measured 0 toe and -1 camber both sides, may need to play with the spaces and ride height a hair to get more clearance for the new tires.

Got it close enough tonight, -2.3 on drive side, -2.1 on pass side. Not bad I think. Tracked my rear end thunk down to the bolt through the sway bar and drop link, prolly a bushing. We'll see how she works on the track now.
