Setting CO

My 3.2 occasionally oscillates at idle on cool starting days for a few cycles before settling down to a smooth idle. I have heard that this is a CO setting issue and yet setting CO is talked about as an esoteric ritual best performed only by the Jedi Porsche Master. The CO meters are also talked about like expensive items which require esoteric information and lots of money to select the right one. Any of you backyard mechanic types have a meter and can enlighten me? Help us, Obewon Porschenobi, you're our only hope...

My 3.2 does the same thing when the idle speed is set too high. Try turning the idle speed screw down.

When my mechanic first installed my 3.2 in my 74 it hunted on start up and he spent days replacing parts including the idle air control valve to no avail. He never could figure it out when I took delivery. When I got it home, I couln't believe how easy it was to fix when all I did was lower the idle.

Cheers,

Joe

Yes, the book says 880 rpm. What does your sticker say?

I would turn the idle down about a half a turn each time until the hunt stops.
