Your SC is looking pretty good as it sits. You might want to get the headlight rings color matched though.
The duck tail and the Carrera script you could try. If your going to get a color match for the tail have them at least spray a spare set of headlight rings so you have them.

I'm also wondering if the tail and graphics work better on a solid color car? Your looks metallic ?

As far as the RS stuff goes..... http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/...ool_shades.gif

It is wrong to pretend you have something you don't. case in point, last saturday a guy showed up in a Ruf, turns out it was a 996 that he spent a fortune on and badged it as a Ruf, just so he could pretend to be something he wasn't. total poser.

But.... if you have a reproduction or a clone, it is a different story. A clone is basically a tribute to the original and as long as you don't present it as anything more than a clone, thats OK.
IMO a clone doesn't have to be 100% correct, the look is OK, as long as you don't pretend it is the real thing.

A ducktail on an SC is cool, almost nostalgic.
i like that. But when you start putting RS stickers on your car and it isn't a long hood, you lost me.
I hate bogus stickers, reminds me too much of the 16 years olds running around in hondas.

I agree, and again, that is a great looking car as is.

Bobboloo 05-28-2005 01:28 AM

Do what ever floats your boat. I like the car just the way it is. Great color.

P.S. I'd much rather have a 911T that looks like a T with a RS motor in it instead of a 911T that looks like a RS with a T motor in it. Not that there's anything wrong with a T motor for that matter. I'm a big fan of them actually.

Mikkel 05-28-2005 02:21 AM

Your car is pretty, why change it?

AFC-911 05-28-2005 06:45 AM

I'll suggest just going for a ducktail, BUT make sure you keep the original. Just change them out to suit your mood.

I'm not sure about the script, although your car might end up proving me wrong, I think that it would look better without.

Joe Bob 05-28-2005 06:46 AM

Nice thing about vinyl....if you don't care for it...it peels right off.

oneblueyedog 05-28-2005 07:17 AM

It might be cool to do a side script cut from a color that is just a tad lighter than your paint for a subtle accent.

Look at RUF bumpers and side treatments too, along with a tail to match. I think these enhancements clean up the car's lines. They may also help with aerodynamics. There is some kind of ran gutter spoiler that cuts some CD points off at high speed.

There was the Special Wishes program at Porsche.

If I had the cash now my wishes would be:

Ruf front and rear bumpers.
side skirts from a Carrera2/4.
appropriate tail
huge oil cooler for the front bumper
ruf wheels- tires to go with them
de-chrome(my car came with chrome trim)
mega squirt
front poly bronze
upgrade the interior to a lighter scheme (all Porsche parts though)

So what if someone cries poser. It's fun. Save the old parts if the market demands original cars at resale. Remove the new and reinstall the old before sale.

I kept my cookiecutters for originality's sake. They are stacked in the garage.

Joe Bob 05-28-2005 07:31 AM

I do have a light blue as well.

dsdw40 05-28-2005 07:37 AM

as good as your car looks, i'm not so sure i'd want to mess with too much. put me down for the duck & leave the rest as is. oh yeah, i'd get a duck w/lid & save the original as someone here has previously mentioned

SCWDP911 03-10-2007 06:18 AM

What about adding an S in front of the Carrera? then shift the graphic rearward just a hair to realign it properly. Just a thought. I do not think Super Carrera would fit! Anyone seen anything like this before. I think I remember seeing someone say they had a seen a super carrera script somewhere?

I can think of one glaring exception, albeit a little off track... I still chuckle about the bone stock red Fiero with the small Ferrari prancing horse stickers on the front fenders!

peritus 03-10-2007 07:26 AM

beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

The great thing about decals is that they peel off... with a bit of elbow grease as long as they aren't on for a long period of time.

There are many different graphics materials you can use these days. 3M and Avery have made some surprising advancements.

Do what you want to your car to make it look cool. Just make sure it's not permanent so that you can bring it back to plain-Jane if you ever decide to sell it.

No harm done!

peritus 03-10-2007 07:29 AM

BTW, it looks ***** hot the way it is...

Wickd89 03-10-2007 08:55 AM

Nice looking car but you should do what you like (always)

I have seen the same car Scott posted from Socal and I loved it; although it was a coupe and not a targa.
Ducktails on SCs are great.....

Here's a blue example of what you want to do. I think it looks great! This belongs to Sushinav. Notice he took off the rocker panels and added the script. Remember what SC stands for - Super Carrera - so the sticker would not be a lie.

Awesome car! Love it!

Quicksilver 03-10-2007 09:09 AM

I think the rule here is the only real cardinal sin is to pretend to be a poser. . .

450knotOffice 03-10-2007 02:23 PM

Yea, Sushinav's car is stunning in person.

Also, has anyone noticed this is a two year old thread?

911pcars 03-10-2007 04:39 PM

"....as long as you don't present it as anything more than a clone, thats OK. "

Does a decal that says "RS" equate to anything less than presenting it to be something it isn't? Or does it have to be an outright verbal claim?

"Sir, is that a real RS?"

"Err, no, not really".

"Oh, then I suppose it's okay."

Same with the Carrera stripes. It might be a Super Carrera, but it's not a Carrera or an RS which the side logo signifies. BTW, can someone point to Porsche literature that says SC stands for Super Carrera? I don't know.

Here's a '76 Mustang II with some pedigree striping. What is this trying to say?

Install the ducktail. If you didn't realize it yet, it's functional. As a bonus, it looks good too (MHO).

But to each his own.

Also, don't get me wrong, I love my 911SC.

But if I add a ducktail and then a Carrera script to the side and maybe a Carrera RS sticker on the ducktail....and maybe a set of Carrera RS floor mats.....am I a chump?

Paging Mike Z......Have a look at my car, how do you think it would look with a black Carrera side stripe? Is my dark blue too dark for the Carrera script or do you think it will look nice & subtle?

Everyone has a different view, in my view, those changes wouldn't look right on your car. But, it is your car. You have to make it what you want it to be. That is what makes it cooler than a new 996/997 that anyone with a checkbook and funds can buy. What makes this hobby what it is, in my view is when guys go out and build a car to their own vision.

So build your car to your vision and the hell with me or anyone else that questions the changes you make

stormmaster 03-10-2007 05:20 PM

I was tossing around similar issues....I added a Duck tail....decided against the side graphics....and had a new tail graphic designed using an original RS logo with a twist.....it is hard to read in the photos....but is says "Carrera 3.2"
