Okay here is the Stealth Champ!

How stealthy is it you may ask? Let me tell you !

My wife keeps asking when I am getting my 911;
The car is invisible in parking lots and on the road, i can fly by the police.
The car is frequently heard but not seen !
It doesn't matter if you wash it cause nobody pays any attention.
The parking attendants don't even try to get me to give up the keys;
It is 180 degrees from my last shiny Guards Red look at me bad dog incarnation ( See Me , feel me , touch me )
People say "thats nice Bob"

get the idea ? I like a little stealth!

OOPS . Wrong new addition to the household - heres the stealthy one!

I wondered if this would end up non-Porsche. I consider my 1987 RX-7 a sleeper because most dont know what it is and think its just another "ricer" trying to look fast. The hood is ricey but was purely put on for function. I needed to drop the underhood temps and help the electric fans a little. Rotaries run very hot.

400 to the wheels and 2560 lbs makes for a very suprising car. The best is when you see it at a DE or Autocross. You will not really give it a second look until it runs.

4 years of my time and 37K of my money invested. I have considered selling it but just cannot.

BTW- it has a 3rd Generation engine in it with a Motec M-4 making things happy. No one expects it to accelerate or turn like it does. It better for what I have invested.... I kick myself I didn't just buy a 911 years ago before starting this project. This car is basically worthless whereas a 911 would have been a better investment. Live and learn.

No 911 can be a sleeper.

You want a sleeper, here is your sleeper:

Start with a GMC Syclone, strip off the aero crap, stick stock GMC Sonoma wheels and badging on it. Better yet, shoot it a grey primer rattle-can paint job, hand stencel "Bob's Landscaping" on the doors and throw a lawn mower in the bed and one of those home-made shovel racks made of pvc pipe.

Make the rice-boys cry.

Tom

man, that would be one fun car!!

I've seen a VW Beetle once w/ a Varioram in the back
(unfortunately, the sleeper look wasn't working b/c big reds were peeking out from behind the wheels )

Sleeper Victim

I remember years ago, when I had my 65 Mustang Sedan with a GT350 drive train that was built. It wasn't a sleeper, just a freeway flier. I learned what a sleeper was one night in Costa Mesa, an innocent looking maroon Dodge Dart, oh a 67 or 68. All I remember is the thing was nothing to look at, but I soon found out that it had a 440 hemi and pretty much I was sucking on crow from my buddies for about a month. It was pretty embarrassing.
