How Many '88 Anniversary Carreras Made?
I have recently purchased a '88 euro spec. Anniversary Eddition cab. VIN #WPOZZZ917JS150102
I know there were 100 US spec cabs produced, but does anyone know how many ROW Anniversary cabs were produced? THanks, John |

Did you buy a "Commerative Edition"? Commemorating the 250,000th 911 made. Diamond Blue metallic with matching fuch wheels, and Ferry Porsche's signature embroidered on the seats.
Or the 89 Anniversary Edition. They are commonly confused. I own a Commemorative Cab, and have more info if you need it.

Here are a couple of links for your enjoyment:
http://vista.pca.org/stl/1988silv.htm Just cleaned up (just pics) Not sure on total numbers produced. I heard 350 or so were imported to US, some cabs, targas, and coupes. Don't know distribution.

From memory, it seems that there were approx. 900 (maybe it was 875) produced accross the three body styles. To me, that's a fairly large number for any one year and one color (excepting maybe red) hence my comment about them not being rare. I personally looked at one (a buyer already ahead of me) before purchasing mine, and quite a few folks here on Pelican have one. That being said, they all seem to be well kept examples of G50 3.2s...can't go wrong there

My “Porsche 911 Red Book” says 875 total Anniversary Carreras were built, 300 went to US. Nothing about cabs but the ACs sound “limited” to me.

I guess it's all relative David...pick any single color (other than red) for any given year, and they're all limited
! If your '911 Red Book' is referring to the '88s as Anniversary Editions...it's incorrect. There is a lot of confuson over these two special editions due to the 'published' mis-information and a few european web sites which have their facts wrong. I've got the official Porsche marketing brochure at home, so I'm pretty sure I'm correct on on this one...

KC911,
That would be GREAT! Even my Cert. of Authenticity makes no mention of anything special. Just the color, model deletion and short shifter. Also, is it true that the new cars came with a plaque w/the owners name on it. There is a area on my dash (above glove box) that looks like something has been removed (3/4"x 2"). Never seen one, so I'm not sure if it's true or not. -W

John,
Welcome to the CE Gruppe. There were 875 cars world wide with 300 for the US. Don't know what the distribution was for the rest of the cars. John post some pics of your car. Keith, how's the fan look?

I have scanned the CE brochure, but it is in Adobe .pdf format, so I am unable to upload it (as is). I'll be glad to email the images to anyone who PMs me their email address. I'll try to take a digital picture of the brochure later, and if I can get a decent resolution, I'll post those pics to this thread.

875 CE cars were made in summer 1987 (MY.88)-
300 went to the US- all diamond blue (worldwide) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The 25th Anniversary cars in 1989 had no limitation worldwide, there are different colors and Option-codes M97,M98,M99 for different countries. but 500 went to the US (300 coupes,200 cabriolets) 400 in silver (240coupes/160 Cabriolets) 100 in Satin-black (60 coupes/40 Cabriolets) ---------------------------------------------------------------- Commemorative Edition brochure: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 25th Anniversary Edition brochure: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- cheers from Germany ![]() Jo german CE meeting 2005:

you definitely have a euro car. No. 15 for the cabriolet ROW and 0102. they start with 0061 (1-60 are factory cars) So your cab is number 42 produced as CE cab. (the US cab cars have a"17") I think, they produced only CEs in a row after summer 1987(when the MY changed to "J" 88) All the german/euro CEs, i know, have Vins from 0063 to 0259 for every Model(coupe/targa/cab) the highest cab VIN i know is (0159) No 99..., it seems that most of the CEs were coupes, maybe 500- the rest targa and cab. The VINS of the US CEs (i know)are all around 0300 and 0440?? I cant explain that at the moment, because if they start with 0061- it makes no sense....because the US Vin has its own number (17XXXX)--if only 100 cabs go to the US- why Number 0440???? Please feel free to post the last 6 digits of your CE VINs - to find out whats the matter. sorry for my cheap english- i am german--like my car ![]() Jo btw... they all had a badge -(some with the name of the first owner) it was only taped to the glovebox The US badge is written in german , but with the addition MY.88 The ROW version says 1987.

Mine's Diamond Blue - but not a CE (and a 1987) - must have been the inspiration for the CE's
