My 3.0 is for sale
So it looks promising as far as getting the 3.2. With that, my 3.0 will be for sale. It is an '83 with about 100,000 miles, leaks 0 oil, and has backdated exhaust ('74 heat exchangers), a new distributor cap, new Magnecor wires, and overall is very clean and very strong. It last dynoed (before the new distributor cap and wires) at 193 hp. So there might be a couple horsepower more now that the new cap and wires are installed. Also included is the larger '78-79 CIS injection. With that, you can build up a large port CIS engine with the later CIS 9.3:1 compression. This should make the 3.0 worthy of about 210, maybe more, horsepower.
If anyone's interested, I'm selling the 3.0, heat exchangers and '78-79 CIS as a package for $5K. I'll keep the muffler. I'm going to put the motor on the classifieds section, but thought I'd mention it here as well. Thanks. |

dd74 IS NOT getting a new motor...
Hmmm...seems like someone in my household failed to see the cost of this adventure, and refused to acknowledge the intricate arrangements I already made to get the touted prize. Hmmm...I thought I explained it clearly enough...I thought I did...
Oh well, I'm humbled to be posting this. This is quite embarrassing and I already apologized to Harald. At least I still have a well running 3.0, despite a not-so-well-running ego. Okay you guys: cheer me up!

Your a sick man.
If that doesn't get Dave grinnin' then nothing will.As Glenn says it's a slippery slope. My new to me 73' Targa 3.2 has already got me looking at turbo motors saying hmmm. I just saw a 3.3 go for a little under $5k on fleabay.

yeh - set a bomb proof belay and dig in for a year or two - keep constant tension on the line, see if anything gives
alternatively! just get the 3.2L heads - they flow real well & then get some bigger pistons, then cylinders... pretty soon: bang - a short stroke 3.2 emerges from under the radar

Dave, welcome back to reality....Ah,,,,the married life. I just dropped $4000 on tile for the downstairs area......What a damn fool, although I saved a lot of money by shopping around. Women have the power.

That's too bad, David. I'm sure there is another in line for the motor. Harald will understand and not be too put out to my thinking. And, there will be another motor and another after that.
Other David: $4000 for tile? Man, that's something I would definately do myself and make the wife pay me instead of the tile jokers. Nostatic: The crytic message there is beyond many, now. They never heard. That all transpired before even I got here. Maybe a link for entertainment?

women have the power, psh. ive been told that my whole life and never took heed to it. if i was a pushover i doubt i would have been with half the girls i have been with, models, actresses, heiresses, bla. who cares, do what you want, pay for it and then hangout with them lol. i realize things are different in a married environment and dave im sorry but now you can save a little more and go the full gambit and get a 3.6 instead of a puny little 3.2 haha.
cheer up, just drive faster, ryder

Don't get me wrong, I've been married twice and both times I'm sure I made an idiot(spelled P-U-S-S-Y) out of myself with some of the things I did or put up with( left that cocaine snorting pig with a town house in Henderson Nevada because I was convinced it was the right thing to do for her two boys, only to have her sell it and move in with some a-hole who didn't have an alibi for when she was found face down in a muddy ditch, but thats another Oprah) Do what you gotta do to keep Peace in the family as long as there is still some piece in it for you.

Doesn't want/need a 3.6L
|
Sorry to hear your bad luck Dave, your wife must see your checking and savings accounts.
I'm fortunate where my wife doesn't have access to my checking account and thinks EVERY stock '88 3.2L motor looks like this after a rebuild: Good thing she can't count the number of ignition leads. I guess you'll have to wait until something goes wrong like I had to before you can do something, but than you have to take advantage of the opportunity. Perfect excuse to upgrade to a 3.6L at that point. Maybe buy her a new dress and some perfume? Ralph |

Yeh - the purse holding bit is a definite test -- they put you thru it as the relationship reaches a certain stage. It'll be in public too. Of course, you may live in a city where guys carrying purses is common, or where women rarely have them...

That is SO true, Milt! I know that when I came aboard I spent a LOT of time searching and reading about Todd's adventures. David, Hang in there. Tuesday's coming! Maybe someday I'll get some seats, too! After flooring, and counter tops, and more flooring.......

I recall it well. I've said the following before, and I'll say it again now: Todd took a lot of flak and got called some merciless names, and EVERY SINGLE ONE of the macho cretins here said he was pussy-whipped. I say he's probably the most courageous person in our midst. He took each and every hard punch with more class and dignity than most folks can even identify, kept his sense of humor and......here's teh impressive part....kept comng back for more. He's stil here. T
he guy's got 'nads. And like him, I'm out of prison but too poor to really enjoy it. Yet. Dave, all things happen for a reason. My guess is that God wants you to have a 1950-lb car with a 3.6 Varioram. He's a great guy.
