Well, the car was originally going to ba a backdate '74 IROC RSR, but the owner (a friend of Joe Herreros and myself) decidied he liked the pics he saw of the 3.8 RSR.

Those wheels are actually Jack Olsen's rear wheels that he graciously loaned us so we could get a perfect fit on the flares.

The car will have the correct wheels from a 3.8 RSR.

No, this is going to be his learning car. We're going for more brakes, suspension, and safety so that it will be easier for him to learn what he's doing wrong or right. Too much horsepower gets in the way of that.

His daily driver is a 996, and his other car is a Cayenne Turbo. We fifured this was as old as he should go. It's got ABS, and working A/C. But it still has semi-trailing arm rear suspension, so he learn the meaning of "throttle-steer".

Once he's mastered this car, he wants to buy a GT3 Cup car.

Yeah, when he's done, you only need primer and some blocking to be ready for paint. Bondo? We don't need no steenking Bondo!

Welded. If you see it in person, you really have to look to see the meeting point. The guy is just amazing.

He sure is. Not only the weld itself but also the fitting. At least as good as original factory work.

Now that is cool Tyson. I plan to backdate a 964 at some point. Going by your photos, it'll be harder than I 1st thought though.

The rear panel slopes with the rear lights, meaning a swap over to the classic style lights wouldn't be so straight forward.

That has always been one of the best looking widebodies IMHO. I hope he goes with the real deep dish 3.6 Turbo wheels.. to make it look the real deal..

We are converting my Carrera to turbo-look with 930 flares in the rear. I couldn't find any late style turbo flares so I had to go with early style (apparently the difference is only in the shape of the t-bar cover).

My question to you guys is whether I need to get new rocker panels.
And if I do I am a little confused between the rocker panels and the rocker panels covers.
Thanks for your help

You will need new rocker panels...the shape of the Carrera rocker panels and that of the Turbo's are different...just look at how much wider of a flare the turbo panels has to cover........
