Engine is in: Ready to start after rebuild, but only get click, click, battery charging more (2 amps overnight). Could it be something else causing the engine not to spin over.

Will try again in morning. The starter is nearly new.

Thank You.

Regards,

Check the battery connections, starter / solenoid connections, grounding strap from tranny to body.

Do the lights dim when you attempt to start? If so your battery is too low.

I had the same thing happen and had to replace the solenoid. Check your grounds and wires first. Put a volt meter on your starter connections and check voltage when you turn the key but disconnect coil wire and fuel relay first.

Removed starter. Had it checked on bench. Perfect. Checked grounds, replaced negative side battery cable. Replaced battery.

Friend came in. With two people, checked power to Solenoid. Yes, ok. Checked power to starter. No power to starter.

Now that have no power to starter need to determine why. Anybody have a schematic diagram. Don't expect a relay to be a culprit. I lowered engine a little again, and ran my hands over the wire onto the engine. All seems fine. Took a break.

Once figure this out, engine is ready to be primed, and then it is out for a break in drive.

Thanks again.
