Front end weights early SWB car

What year(s) early SWB cars had the front end weights added to them. I am parting out a 66 911 and discovered them.

all swb cars with single battery after a certain date had them.
edit: 911's only not 912's
Paul Frere's book indicates O & A series 911s had the weights

Jerome,

I don't know the start serial number. I know the '68 had them. This Saturday I'll look in the my '66 bumper to see if she has them.

As silverc4s said the earliest ones didn't have them. They were added later after ..ahem.. handling quirks were discovered. Their purpose is to raise the polar moment of the car in yaw, making it easier for "less experienced" drivers to catch it.

According to Frere' they were added while Eng. Hans Tomala was still head of engineering, and were one of the nails in his career coffin at Porsche. he departed sometime in 1966 with Ferdinand Piech replacing him.
Soooooo, they went in sometime BEFORE mid 1966 calendar year I think.
Another point to remember is that many have been discarded over the years by owners and garages as tires improved, and handling became more benign...
