What size Fuchs came with the 1987 911 Coupe?
Does anyone know what size Fuchs the 1987 Porsche 911 Coupes came with? No turbo look, just standard, and the option codes don't say anything about the wheels.

Hmm, this car definitely has 16s, so that means it must have 7 and 8s. The problem is that the Fuchs are pretty dull and I'm not sure if I want to spend the money in having them refinished (black).
On an slightly unrelated topic, how much do a set of these 7 and 8 Fuchs go for nowadays?

Better check again- For 1987, the optional 16" Fuchs were 6" on the fronts and 7" on the back. 8" rear wheels only came on the 89 Carreras.
6's and 7's are pretty common (and undesirable).

according to the book in front of me 8j"x16 were an option. You could pretty much have what you wanted for a price.
Prices vary but a year ago refinished 7jx16 @$425 & 8jx16 @600? 9jx16=big$$$$ something like $12-1500 for a pair |

Check the Fuchs numbers on th inside of the rims; they'll tell the story.
Most likely they are 6's and 7's, nothing special but, if the rear is an 8, they are worth refinishing.

If you don't want to expend the time/money to polish the Fuchs, I think you could do a bead-blast, then put a brushed finish on the lips with a bit of elbow grease, and satin-black painted centers and paddles. A classic look, and out-of-pocket would be like $60.
I have only had cookies blasted, so do check w/ someone who's done Fuchs, but I think it would work.

Your 911 has:
16x6's and 16x7's according to your picture link. Thank you! |

Are you sure it wasn't a "Dealer added" kind of option? Having 8s come on the back as an option from the factory isn't that surprising (although I think *very* uncommon), but having the factory issue those cars with 7s on the front is a little surprising. Given that 7s with 205s rub the fender on many (not all, but definately a lot) of SCs and Carreras. That seems to be why in 89, when the 8s came standard on the Carrera, they stuck with 6s on the front. |

Here is the car I'm looking at right now, I *think* it has 7 and 8 Fuchs, but I'm not sure yet. It's an '87...in this picture the paint is faded, but I was amazed how greated it looked after a nice wash and wax. It needs to be lowered...badly.
![]() So, are they 7/8s? or 6/7s?

You've not seen 7/8s before? There's a very noticeable difference. |

16x6's&7's are the most common wheels on Carreras. So you can see the visual difference, here is a pic of my prior `88 Targa that came with factory 16x7&8's: ![]() Their factory origin was verified by the corresponding options code. I agree that it is a very uncommon option, and may have been only available as a "special request". |
