Talking summer...another a/c question..please help the a/c challenged!

Has anyone heard of a compressore made by "ogura". Made in Japan. The PO had it and a brand new short ac line (from the compressor to the deck-lid condensor). Is it any good? Also, its R-12. Can I convert to R-134 by simply purging the system, changing the oil in the compressor? Obviously I'd upgrade to barrier style hoses from Rennaire (seem pricey though).

Finally, I'd like to just be rid of the rear deck lid condensor and replace it with a drivers side front wheel well compressor from a C2. I HATE the idea of all that hot air getting sucked down into the engine compartment...perhaps I'm being too anal? If nothing else, will it at least perform as well as the deck-lid?

My plan is to buy a new evap from rennaire (claims to be more efficient than the old style), a pro-cooler, new barrier lines, front wheel-well condensor w/fan, keep the small forward condensor, and charge with 134. I'm hoping that I get anything near the high 40's at the vent! Under $1000 is my goal

R/
Dustin

Wow when they made my PORSCHE they must have did something wrong. Existing a/c system with a York compressor and I'm getting mid 30 degree temp on high 80, low 90 days in Chi-town. Of course I'm still running with R12. Only need to throw a can of freon into the system every couple of years.

Except for the compressor seizing occasionally because of me stupidly running the A/C with the decklid up, my A/C is the same, RUF. Ice cold. Must be the 1982 plat. metallic.

the po of my car did the switch to r134a so can't say on price but to convert over you have to change compressors to one with multiple preasure cut off.
