Thorshammer,
Why don’t you send Camgrinder your other cam and let him have a look, measure the profile and offer some sage advice? If nothing else, it will give you some more perspective. Best wishes for success at the Runnoffs. Best, Grady

Re: Broken welded camshaft 48 minutes WTF?

Also, wouldn't the shop have a recycle bin for metal? They couldn't take a few minutes and find your cam in it? --Joe |

Thats what I have asked for. As for the next cam, I have a new grind coming as well as the original grind on its way. My biggest problem is the lack of titanium tubing for my new exhaust, looks like inconel is gonna have to get the job done, Damn the bad luck. LOL.... Could'nt afford Ti if I wanted to. Just kidding. The cam straightening is archaic, makes me scared. I remember dropping a cam back in fifth grade at my dads shop, actually it was a 4 cam Carrera Camshaft, broken , unlucky for me, or my rear end when he finally caught me.

He must have gotten some reasonable camshafts in the car since he was leading the national at Lime Rock last weekend when he was punted by a lapped car.

Cams????
I got a new camshaft from Elgin, removed both and magnafluxed them, they both passed. Paid full retail. ran the car at Watkins Glen and won posting a 2:11.8 lap time, .04 off the lap record and it was my first time there. Great track. Had a good race with Ken Kannard, who finished 5th at the Runnoffs last year.
Qualified 17th at Lime Rock Park, took the lead on lap 7 (100.8) passed a lapper running 1:08's and he tried to out brake me into turn one and could'nt get it stopped and plugged me in the right rear suspension/wheel. Car fixed now, except for some paint. Trying to find a sponsor for that, no luck so far. The other day, I got a set of valve springs Gratis from Elgin, I guess as a peace offering. No retainers??? Look like isky springs, probably are. Be okay for my second set of heads. So thats the scoop. Looks like I am Runoffs bound. sitting third in points but not going to Pocono so I will be back a ways. Let me get this straight, the guy threw YOUR camshaft away? I think I'd go to small claims court to get your $ or the camshaft back.

Your state law may require parts to be returned to you - or offered in writing. Check on that.

Hi Erik,
I'm guessing you got your heads, if not and your still interested in mine, I'll have time to pull the engine apart this week or next.
