Starter won't turn after motor install, help!
Hello all,
I just replaced the clutch on my 69 T. When I put the motor back in and turned the key over, there was an ominous clunk from the starter and now it won't turn over. Is it possible to accidently jam the starter against the ring gear on the flywheel? Help! Any suggestions or ideas greatly appreciated. Zach |

HI.
Hand roll the motor over and try it agin. If that dosent work then I would, Pull the starter. Its easy and you can get a look at that ring gear.
Then I would hand roll the motor over agin. See if it binds... You never know somthing might have jammed it. Then take the starter and hook it up to a spare btty and see what it dose. Then you'll see if it was the starter at all.

also make sure your ground strap is connected, maybe clean up where it connects in case of corrosion too.

OK,
Removed the starter and turned the motor by hand. But the flywheel doesn't turn when I turn the engine via the fan! Is that normal? I can turn the flywheel by leveraging it with a screwdriver from the hole where the starter goes, but I put a mark on it with a marker and when the I turn the fan with a socket the flywheel does not move from its previous position. If this is not normal what could cause it? Zach |

I don't think the motor is turning over when you are turning the fan. I.e. belt is slipping. I tighten the belt by pressing on it with the side of my hand to get it to turn over. Of course it is easier with the spark plugs out. Have fun.
