yes - a civil suit might be worthwhile - the problem is that attorneys aren't cheap (Except the public interest kind...)
find out the limits for small claims court there and file up to that limit yourself after a convictionis obtained (proof that he owes you) -- it'll be fun to have him served while in jail & to tell the judge that the def. defaulted b/c he's a prisoner. you would still have to collect - you do that via garnishment of what he owns again this is more to make you feel better -- probably - than to recoup your loss. |
i called my friend at wagon werks in shelton (kitsap county) and he had already heard of it from his cop friend, so he's on the lookout for parts and pieces. that's two now that turned up over there.

thanks for calling, and i am glad that the word is out. i found out on friday that i would not be able to see the parts on a weekend. i have mondays off, but since tomorrow is a holiday, i will not be able to go out there until the 11th. oh, anticipation. |
i did not think that it would actually bring me to tears, but wow...
i talked with the lady at the evidence yard in the kitsap county sherriff's department. seems she is the one who went and picked the 'car' up. sounds like it met the business end of a sawsall. she said that the little bit of a roof, the broken windshield, the seats, the door, and various other parts all fit in the back of a silverado, and it was not too full. the thing that killed me is that she kept laughing as she described the parts. 'ha ha ha, not much left out there that you could really call a car...ha ha, i mean, i don't do car rebuilding, or anything, but it doesn't look to me like there's anything left to even start with...ha ha ha ha ha...' whore. it is not exactly like i pulled to the side of the road and broke down, but i definitely got a little misty. it is no longer a car. as far as i am concerned, i do not even want to go out there. if anyone has any interest in seeing if the sport seats are salvageable for recovering, or if the dash (perfect when last i drove the car) is intact, you are more than welcome to do so. i cannot bear to see them, and have no space to store them, anyway. let me know, and i will try to arrange that with the sherriff's department. |
there's a special 'circle of hell' reserved for her..my condolences, mik. hopefully, the local members of this board will work together to find you a new car and maybe the perp will be caught as well.

'67 white VW bug met a similar end some ten years ago.
stolen from in front of house. heard it started up in my sleep one night. five days later got note in mail from wrecker: "car recovered, ignition punched, car wrecked." thought to myself, "maybe it's not so bad" went to wrecker, handed over slip and had remnants deliverd to me on a fork lift. my jaw dropped. fork lift driver: "you want it, or what?" car all bent up, dried blood from cranial impact on dash and hood. hit and run accident ended poorly for driver. sympathies flashback last night when I nearly got T-boned by some 4th o' July fool ag |
ryan: thanks.
ag: choices that your thief made may have led him to being spoon-fed for the rest of his life. at this moment, i could not feel bad for him if that were the case. and right now, i would love to know that the thief of my car had bashed his skull into my windshield. maybe that will abate with time. i am not a vindictive person, just an upset one. in the long run, i would just hope that both of the above would get some jail time. i keep having this dream where i am at the wheel of my 911, pulling out from the curb on a summer night. as i shift into second, the rear end loosens up briefly, then grips and i shift into third. then the dream fades into some other crazy thing. i do not know if i am just replaying some specific moment i experienced, or just dwelling on the subtlety of the driving experience, or if it is just some freudian thing about my kindergarten teacher, channelled through a 911. i just keep seeing it. |

Sportseats? . . .they left sportseats?
|
david: i agree. just thinking about that. thanks.
island: weird, huh? |
Mik: You can be assured the car was "parted out" near the location the unwanted parts were dumped. The perp won't risk getting caught transporting the items very far. There a two senerios possbile:
1) He has a crashed and/or broken 911 he needs parts for. He will install all your good parts, get his registered and be on his way. 2) He's selling parts for profit; be it on E-bay or elsewhere. Since most body parts are gone, the 1st choice is most likely. If I were you, I'd be driving the area on the weekends, looking into backyards, open garages, etc. I'd also call the Auto Theft Det. with Kitsap Co. and make sure he/she is aware of your case. I'd then notify body/paint shops to be on the lookout for someone wanting a quick paint job. Next, go claim your sport seats and sell them on here. At least you'll re-coup a few buck......G'luck.. |
I'm thinking that no 911 owner would toss out sportseats. (unless it was some "early elitist" who paradoxically wanted the better 3.0, stronger tranny, aluminum trailing arms ... but thinks that anything that LOOKs 74+ is all wrong) Anyway, it will be interesting to see what's left . .. what the thieves value. From what I've read so far, I would be looking at teeners (914.com).

Are you saying suspects should be limited to 911 owners? Are 914 guys so above reproach? . . . or is it a little too close to the truth? |

yeah? . . .and how would you know that? Funny, LakeCleElum speculates that it may be a 911 owner. I refine this and say, maybe an early 911 owner OR MAYBE a teener owner . .. and out come the knee-jerk, overly sensitive to the subject, 914 owners. Well let me just throw-out tthis; It also may be some guy with a kit-car of some sort. --ducking now, for all the kitcar owners who will tell me they know more 911 theives than kitcar thieves. |
Nah, you didnt say it like that. You said it like this:

Hey Island...
Are those stolen 911 parts I see stuck up your a$$ ? |
sorry, a little defensive since due to some cr@p stuff going on at the "other" site :)
by the way, I am a 911 owner as well (well, sorta, I own the red-headed stepchild version no one likes.......'91 964 C2) what about them Bus guy's??? cannot overlook them :p |
if you teeners are defensive because I dropped the 914.com, just relax. I'm not saying/implying anything bad about any of the regulars there. It's just that, at least here in the NW, 914.com is were all the teeners hang-out. THEY WOULD KNOW IF SOME PUNK WAS MOVING SUSPICIOUS 911 PARTS.
I've met some teeners over there, who i'm sure would help keep an eye out. "Fast Eddie" "Bleyseng" "J P Stein" are all locals who hang out there. Mik, i'd ask these guys to keep an eye out, over on that board. (stealthly, hopefully) I think that the sportseats being left speaks volumes about the thief(s). ....sportseats would even be cool in a bus.;) Jeroen- you eyeball'n at my ass, boy? |
