WHO Has SSI's on their Stock 3.2?
Would you do it again?
Noise level? Performance gains? Your heat is set-up how? AND....picture? Thanks, Ken .......I am on the fence.

I did the swap and it totally transformed the engine. Throater but not really that much louder but I was using a stock "banana" muffler. Mid range was much better and high range a lot better.
Working out the heat was a bit of work but nothing exciting. The SSI's had excellent heat compared with the stock setup BTW. Well worth the time and money for me! JoeA

ssi's with the heat box's covered with some screen mesh.
I just use the footwell blowers for heat and it still gets hot as hell with them blowing at half speed. currently I'm looking for some 2.5' ID flexible stainless able to bend in a very small radius. I'd do it again Ben's muffler and steve's chip, loud |

SSI's and a Triad West muffler. No sound padding, but still not too loud.
I would do it again in a heartbeat. |

Just did this a few months ago, and I would ABSOLUTELY do it again. Picked up the SSI's and oil lines from our sponsor and the 2-in/2-out muffler from Ben. Decided not to hook up the heat since it never gets REALLY cold down here. Sorry.
Performance-wise, the car runs MUCH freer now and has a lot more low-end torque and throttle response. Kinda like taking a blanket off the engine. Sound-wise, it is certainly much louder than stock. But hey, we all love that sound, right?!! Ben's muffler has a great growl and rumble at idle and lower RPMs, and a distinct F1-type scream at high RPMs and WOT. It's not a daily driver for me, so I love the volume level, but if you're going to drive your car every day you might want to consider a single-out solution (plus you won't have to alter the valance). Unfortunately my photography gear was stolen so I can't post a photo at this time, but you get the idea from other posters. Let us know what you decide.....

I know I don't but save your money and swap the cat for a euro pre-muf and sport muffler.
My heat is very strong std so may be something wrong if yours is not.

Ken - you are going to get a skewed response here - as most people went the SSI route instead of the cheaper - sport muff, cat-bypass and chip.
Of course they would do it again - without having the tried the first. You would be hard pressed to notice the difference from the above setup vs SSI. -Jeff

I don't think the question was if you have a bypass pipe and if you would do that again.
Who of you nay sayers actually has run SSI COMPARED to the stock HE? George |

Because of our smog test here I've had to switch back & forth and I prefer the SSI's & Dansk over the stock setup. I also run a SW chip. The three pieces run together make for a great sound, better throttle response and a flattened tq curve. Alot more power? Probably not. But I'd do it again anyway.

I did the test pipe, then the pre-muffler then SSI's. I did not notice any difference with the test pipe. I notive a little difference with the pre-muffler and again notice a little differnce with the SSI's. Had I gonew from the test pipe to the SSI's, I would probably notice a big differnce.

One independent dyno test is worth 1,000 "expert" opinions.

What do you have to do differently with the heat? Why the wire mesh?

I´ve them and I made a pipe that is inside the bumper from the right side. But I have an RS bumper, which made it easier. If interested I can post pic during the weekend.

wire screen because I don't want anything crawling in there, And I don't block it off completely because carrera footwell blowers pull their air through there. Blocking it off completely essentially deadheads the blowers.

Any and all pictures would be great. FYI- I am going to RUF bumpers, and Ben's R-type muffler as well.

Ken - think your question would be better suited for Steve Weiner, Steve Timmins, etc... As Ralph says - an independent dyno will be worth 100 responses to what feel right.

I just had my 3.2 on dyno. No mods except SSI and free flowing muffler. It got 196 hp and 179 ft.lb. which is about 230 at the crank. Unfortunately for this debate I didn't dyno when I was running a SW chip and fabspeed premuffler.

SSI work well with the stock 3.2. With the right muffler sounds loud, so go for it if that is what you want. Heat works too. The chip makes it all just right
. It all together works well for me. Good luck. Regards,
