How to access back of console? 87 Carrera.

Is it possible to gain access to the back of the plate holding the defroster and hazard switches without removing the console?

Long story short, my defroster switch has become detached from the socket behind this plate and I want to hook it back up.

Does it just pop out or do I have to disassemble and remove the console?

Anyone have a diagram or exploded view of the console?

I don't want risk breaking something so I thought I'd ask.

Thanks in advance.

If it is the same as in my 84; console can remain installed...
Remove the 2 side screws, one on each side, from the rear console cover piece. remove rear cover piece.

Remove screws from each side, 1 each side.

From the from switch faceplate, gently pulldown to release the top tabs and slide the faceplate down to gain access to the rear of the switches.

Be careful as the temp sensor wire is fairly solid and somewhat tender.....

I dont have my PET catalogue at work or I would post the diagram...If I remember later, I will post it after dinner.....
