Isaac helment devices: out of business???
About a month ago, I ordered an Isaac Intermediate. Never got it, never got an acknowledgement. A week ago, I e-mailed them asking if they'd ever gotten my order. Again, no response. Minutes ago, I tried calling the Florida phone number listed on their website. "Has been disconnected," the recording said.
Are they out of business? (Anybody who doesn't know what an Isaac is, go to www.isaacdirect.com and read all about it. They are--or perhaps were--an excellent alternative to the HANS, I'm told.) Stephan

You're kidding...I was looking at these, and going to possibly get one b4 the next DE. It seemed they got a lot of accolades in a lot of forums as an economical alternative to Hans after the recent CGT wreck in SoCal.

That would surprise me if they're out of business. It's possible that the phone problem might be related to the local weather, this week?

I ordered the Isaac Intermediate a month ago and they responded a week later with an early order discount and a ship date of mid to late July. I'd try again.

Well, I've sent them three e-mails, the most recent telling 'em I want to buy the thing so I can write about it for Popular Science, of which I'm the consulting auto editor. I'm out of ideas, since I can't reach them by phone.

Well, the 'them' is pretty much Gregg Baker, the guy who developed it. His direct email is gbaker (at) isaacdirect.com .
The fax number seems to be working: 407 660-0012 I see internet posts he's made as late as July 5th (four days ago) with no mention of the company closing its doors. It's odd, though, he's usually very strong on electronic communications.

Gentlemen,
We are fully functional, although I admit it isn't pretty. I want to first apologize to Stephan. We dropped the ball on his early e-mails and only today were aware of his most recent. 100% our mistake--no excuses. I'm not sure what the problem is with the phone lines. We have been upgrading our "backroom" functions, including phones, so Ma Bell may have unplugged the wrong lines over the weekend. I suspect, however, that it is weather related. Hurricanes are notorious for throwing off isolated tornadoes, and lightning storms are common in this area even in normal weather. Given that the computer system's UPS blew up sometime Thursday, I suspect the phones took a hit also. We'll know more tomorrow. (I'd call Ma Bell to ask but the phones are out, both at work and at home. DSL is up at home, however. Go figure.) The Web site is fine. Both the Web and mail servers are backed up with mirrored servers on the West coast. Now for the good news: We should receive tomorrow the first batch of components for the Intermediate systems. We may have to fill out the FedEx airbills by hand, but at least we'll be shipping those models this week. It will be a bit longer for the Link model. We apologize for the delays and problems with communications. We typically have inventory in stock and can ship overnight if required.

It's good to see a vendor step up like this. Thanks Gregg. I have put one of your devices on my birthday wish list
