Anyone Source a Euro 3.2 instead of rebuild to 3.4 or Swap to 3.6?

Just out of curiousity, did any of you 3.4 builders and 3.6 swappers look into sourcing a Euro 3.2 before going your respective routes?

My latest pipe dream involves a Euro 3.2 with a cat slipped on for smog testing and uncorked the rest of the time when my original engine gives up the ghost (hopefully a while from now).

Are there any logistical issues aside from the smog testing with using this engine in an 88 Carrera in Kalifornia? Seems to me that this is the best route for "cheap" hp: get an engine from Harald or someone comparable, swap it in, & get new chip from Steve Wong for 91 fuel. Am I missing something?

thanks in advance for all replies

db (201K on original 3.2 and going strong)
