Differences between early and late 15x7 Fuchs
What are the differences between early and late 15x7 Fuchs wheels?
For instance; 15x7 Fuchs from 1973 versus 15x7 Fuchs from 1983? Do they look exactly the same with the only differences being the center caps and date codes? Thanks for the help, -Scott |

Scott,
No, the 1973 version of the 15 x 7 Fuchs had the same finish and center caps as other 1973 wheels ... clear anodized petals and black background. Center caps were the 3-spring version, and clear anodized finish. Look at any pics of the RS 2.7 ... front wheels were the same as 911S, and rear 15 x 7s finish matched perfectly, just as you would expect! Later wheels using the late-style center caps are a different forging, since the ID for the center cap changed ... and, of course, the black-painted spokes, or platinum-metallic paint in the case of the Weissach Special in 1980! The part numbers changed for each 'finish' change in the wheel ... not just the date code!

Thanks for the info. I should slap myself for forgetting about the color of the petals (clear anodized vs. black)!
Are there any differences in the shape of the petals or lips on the early vs. late 15x7 Fuchs? |
