Stripped EGR port

I have a 79SC 3.0, while eliminating the EGR system I stripped the port in the head that the EGR fitting screws into.
Is there an easy fix for such a thing or is a drill and tap situation? I know GM has a Helicoil for stripped sparkplug ports, is there a simular solution for this application?
Thanks,
Mike

Since you are eliminating the EGR, why not just tap the port for a larger plug? If I remember correctly (and we all know how bad my memory is), those ports are M10x1. I don't "do" SAE but maybe a 7/16-20 would fit the bill?
