What color is it and should I add RS flares

I have been debating whether or not to convert my SWB to LWB with RS flares. I would keep the original color and no tail. Also, I have always called my car slate gray but then someone told me it was olive green a while back so I started calling it that but that color was not available in '67 and the car has never been resprayed so what color is it???

Olive was a 1967 color. Paint code # 62166. And it's an extremely cool color.

Hey Larry - Thats not Olive. the olive green looks alot like Mustard yellow. That is some other green. Gimme the paint code off of the drivers door tag and maybe I could finish your mysterty.

The person who called your car "Olive" has obviously never seen an early 911 in Olive. Looks Slate Grey (Code 6601) to me.

But your car is beautiful! How do I convince you not to reapint or put those RS fenders on it or change the wheelbase? Maybe... if I told you that after you do that work, you basically cut the resale value of your car in half?

I should give a little background on the car .... I bought it about 6 years ago from the second owner. I was looking for an early 911 but had found nothing but rust buckets along the way. I found this car in the hands of the heir of the second owner (he died with it). It had been sitting a long time but I paid a premium for it just for the lack of rust, perfect pans, and the still shiny original paint. I then converted the 912 to a 911 with a 2.0 from a 69T. I could not believe how underpowered it was so I swapped it out for a 2.4T still unsatisfied I took the engine from my 74 converted it to webers and put that in there. Now it is a rocket with the 912 gear box but really not practical for anything but the track due to the ultra low gearing of the 912 trans. So I decided to convert it to a 915 from my 74 with the 731 R&P and possibly a 3.6 6 or 8 months from now... that is the full history... Oh I almost forgot I sold it ~1 year ago when I was building the 74 to RS spec then just bought it back because I really missed having the car.

One other thing has anyone ever seen a talbot berlin mirror with a square mirror. I was told that it was an ultra rare factory option .... but I was thinking to convert to 2 circular talbots so that I can have a passenger mirror since I have looked for a really long time and cant find another square mirror talbot...

If I had that car I'd keep it narrow, switch to steel wheels, and start building it into a retro sleeper. I'd get rid of the talbots and put 73-style rectangle flag mirrors on both sides. Beef up the motor, or even swap in something larger, but put a more subtle muffler on the back. Heck, air condition it, even, but keep it understated looking.

Go wild with the white car, but play your cards close to the vest with that slate gray beauty.

Gotta agree with Jack (take a look at his ride...he knows his stuff!).

Keep it a narrowbody, throw some steel wheels on it with stock Porsche center caps. You can get 6" steelies for the front and get some 7" ones made for the rears. Perfect sleeper material! Whatever you do, don't ruin the body with flares or harm that original paint!!! Cars that old with original paint are rarer than an honest politician.

I agree. Don't change it. But if you really must, convert it to an R, not an RS. That would be way more cool, and cheaper, I think. Body mods would be minimal.

Better to buy a mid-year car and backdate it, flair it and leave your SWB as is, in my opinion. Nice rust-free SWBs are becoming so rare to take the torch to one.
