993 Cabriolet Top Issues
Greetings,
My 96 993 cabriolet has a top that is stating to be prone to misbehaving. The symptom is a refusal to go down when up, and vice versa. I can hear a relay click in the trunk when I press the top activation switch, but there is no action from the top motors. Wait a few minutes (or longer) and the top will behave normally. Sometimes turning the ignition on or off helps, but not usually. Sometimes the car needs to be driven before this works again. When it works, all is fine. I think this is an intermittent connection on the power bus to the top relay, but that is only a guess. Anyone have a similar experience that they could solve? Cheers, Chris |

There is a recall on the 993 cab top drive assembly. Porsche knows the issues and will replace both motors. Call your local dealer and schedule a replacement. Don't ask, tell.
I know of 2 owners who have had this done withing the past couple of months.

Yes, I have the recall paperwork for the locking/latching motors - this is not the drive motors themselves, but still a good tip. But my issue seems to be 100% electrical suppy or 100% "top control unit" related.
