So then; Dane, all that posting "TOo damn HOT /sh i t -hole . .. " you were just ******* with us? --I'm shocked--

. . .and here I thought that you were lurking and commenting, just out of concern for our comfort.

Man, what happened there? .. . are you like the rgrubbe tabs-antithesis? . . the guy who throws rocks into other peoples business?

Well, see ya saturday, I suppose. Should we just meet at Eriks place in Leavenworth? . . .will there be a buffet?

Ellensberg is still a ****hole and central Washington is still too damn hot for a pleasurable drive inside my comfort level. Which is generally anywhere under 95. YMMV or you don't give a ****...either way good for folks to realise just how hot it will be on the other side of the mtns.

(btw Spokane/CdA is a totally different climate and several hundred miles away from Wenatchee/Ellensburg/Grand Coulee)

Last I heard I was still invited on any scwdp or roundup event, gimp. Let me know when that changes will you?

Never been on an rgruppe drive myself. But I have been on most of the local drives organized here on Pelican including last years SCWDP/Roundup. Funny didn't see you there Glenn.

No wonder Drago was a little surprised with this one since he was there.

There is a reason you didn't get an rgruppe drive invite Glenn and it has nothing to do with your car. Could it be the size of your mouth or just butting into other folk's business that some find annoying

See ya Saturday :D

Drago, not exactly correct. There is an annual campout over the weekend in Leavenworth and a drive or two locally into the Cascades. This is Rgruppe's only summer event iirc. ( Long, hot day Sunday getting to Grangeville Id from Leavenworth, 300+ miles if you decide on the additional drive) That hopefully starts an adventure trip into the Idaho and Oregon mtns during the week for those that have the time.

Both events have been on the rgruppe web site for months.
http://www.rgruppe.org/Events/

It would be fun if we could all get together in Wenatchee Saturday evening after dinner.

Drago 08-10-2005 12:40 PM

RSlater, teenerted1 and I are going to be coming through Leavenworth probably around late afternoon time frame (we're heading south at Pateros). 500 miles/day is a little much for me.

Perhaps we could all meet for dinner somewhere in town?

rdane 08-10-2005 12:48 PM

Rgruppe has a hosted salmon bbq already planned. But I did ask if anyone wants to make the drive into Wenatchee afterwards to meet the other group.

Also if the master organizers of this event wouldn't mind one of the local guys is trying to hook up with the group on Sunday. Be nice if someone would take the time and answer him via PM.

Randy W 08-10-2005 12:54 PM

I'll do it.

914Ghost 08-10-2005 01:01 PM

Uh oh is right!
C'mon guys, I know we cant be best buds, but I'm sure this is something we can solve with a little bare-knuckle boxing or a 7" blade fight! Pistols at dawn?
I'll get the convention center ready.
There's a park in Wenatchee that would be a GREAT place for a parking lot kick-the-tires sort of thing. It's called walla walla park, lets see...coming into town from L-worth, hang left at SAV-MART, cross the tracks, and then hang left again at the 1st street I think- there may be a sign pointing to "LOWES"-, pull into the park on the left and find some room for cars.
Free parking and nice greeeen grass. No, Not that kind- though we are getting famous for it.
Cool, I'll bring a cooler of beer or something.
What's a good time for R-Gruppe?
If SCWDP is done with dinner at say, 8:00'ish -8:30 then it would be a sunset gathering thing?
I'm just guessing, but it could be fun.

Bob "no 914" O

rdane 08-10-2005 01:24 PM

Looks like Randy and I are in for Saturday from rgruppe. I am sure there are others that will make it as well.

Just tell us when and where in Wenatchee.

Bob? Walla Walla park? Cool! Time?

ronin 08-10-2005 01:40 PM

you still have my cell# Dane? call me in the afternoon and I'll give you an update

914Ghost 08-10-2005 01:41 PM

what time?
It's up to the collective, it should start cooling down at about 7:30 or so, sunset should be about 8:30.
I dunno, I'm just a 'guide', I cant actually interfere in the lives of mortals. ;)
Here's a map thing. I'll pm' you my info again, if I'm still alive saturday I can tell you what I know about timing from this end.

Oh hey Dane, no need to come to us. I mean, you guys are the elders, so we will just all meet you up at Eriks place in Leavenworth.

So is the salmon served Buffet style?

rdane 08-10-2005 01:43 PM

We're having dinner in Leavenworth around 7:30 so it's gotta be later.
Sunset sounds good to me. Ralph I'll call.

No worries Glenn keep it up and I'll come meet you much earlier.

I only offered a friendly mutual gathering. You obviously want to act like a turd and crash someone else's party, that you specifically weren't invited too? Why is that Glen?

Or is there a reason you'd rather not have a fun get together in Wenatchee? Most everyone knows each other and there are plenty of nice cars in both groups to look at. Lot of guys would like to see Jeff's DP for example or some of the early Ss.

. . .

Uhm, WHO is "act like a turd and crash'n someone else's party"?
"salmon buffet . ."
You have got to know, I was kidding. I have ZERO interest in your guys thing (and why I'm not over on the earlyS board pulling a tabs, like you are here.)

Really; what do YOU have to do with this drive, or this thread? Pissed? Do you want control, so you can kill it . .. again? SGWVP? (Sour grapes of the Wenatchee valley plot)

. . and btw, WTF is "I'll come meet you much earlier." Are you saying that since you can no longer think straight that you're going to" meet back behind the gym"?

rdane 08-10-2005 02:36 PM

Glenn kinda started with your comment in the first post. I had nothing to do with the lack of follow through on the earlier roundup schedule. When I was told I couldn't talk about driving in public I lost all interest. I didn't appreciate your comment then or now.

Quote:

"what do YOU have to do with this thread"
Gosh Glenn...Seattle area drive...isn't it? Can I join in here or are you specifically saying I am not welcome after you just invited me?

Had it been a different weekend I'd be in for the entire drive. Nice that someone besides me finally organized one. Kinda burnt out on it actually. As I have said never been on an rgruppe drive and it has been planned on this weekend now for 8 months. Nothing wrong with that just had to consider the weather and choose which drive.

Beyond that....

A little social gathering after dinner on Saturday? Bob will find a place locally for us to park a few cars and I'll bring ice cream for anyone who wants to join us...rgruppe or SCWDP.... on Saturday night after dinner.

I always like looking at cool cars : D

island911 08-10-2005 02:44 PM

So you're saying we are not welcome to join your salmon bake? I'm sure that Erik has "a place locally for us to park a few cars " I'll bring ice cream. "or are you specifically saying I am not welcome?"

P'lease . ..dane, pathetic attempt at control.

Btw, if you want to "meet me sooner" for the next couple of hours I'll be at the UW radiology dept. Come on down. . get some perspective on life.

jeffgrant 08-10-2005 03:23 PM

Guys-

I hate to butt into a political / social situation that I know nothing about, but can you guys take it to another thread?

I've been pushing this little trip as best I can from our PCA website, word of mouth, etc., and in the last 8 hours I've got 4 people asking me WTF is going on, and whether or not they want to come along at all.

Your "conversations" have put a rather bleak spin on a tour that is bound to be lots of fun...

It's quite obvious that there are hostilities, that aren't really going to be smoothed over or rectified in the thread anyway, so can we quit while we're ahead?

*ducks*

Who wants to split a dozen donuts at Krispy Kreme?

Gunter 08-10-2005 04:24 PM

Scott: If they are WW or Bran I'll have some. But I am afraid they'll be white flour, lard and sugar.
Back to the real topic of a fun drive, please.
Let's all try to be ready at 7:59 AM, with a full tank, good spirits, and enjoy the nice curves on #20 before the Ross Dam.
Those who need it will kindly take a Valium and continue debate on a seperate Walky-Talky-channel. :(
In Switzerland, the trains are on time and, like any civilized country, the temperature is given in Celsius (Centigrade for some) so, it'll be around 30 deg. That means hot and if anyone cares for a swim, there is a beautiful spot in Pateros (Methow River) where you can jump off the boat landing by the Chevron station.
Anyone who needs cooling off can join me in a short swim. ;)

It sounds like a weekend full of Porsche-activities and I am looking forward to meeting all of you. SmileWavy

rdane 08-10-2005 05:22 PM

Just thought I'd offer some hot and tired Porsche driver's ice cream after dinner in Wenatchee. If any one is interested I'll be there ice cream in hand.

My wife and I have been planning this event for quite some time now. We have had the RSVP list in hand for over 2 weeks, and quite a bit of time and effort has gone into making sure our guests are comfortable and have a great time with this "event".

It's our first time on such an endeavor, and it took a lot of convincing to get the wife to "agree", and still insists that I "owe her big time"....(such is life;) )

So, for this year, we would like to keep it at the level of attendees that we have right now...to drop an increased attendance in my wife's lap at this time would "guarantee" that this event wouldn't happen again.

We hope that this is something that we can do every year, and with the first year safely under our belt, we hope that we can extend an invitation to more of our Porsche friends. I have already told my wife that I would like this to be a yearly event, and she said that the only way it will happen is if she gets "help" next year (clearly my efforts are not considered "help" :D ).

We would like this to be a mini Gary Emory Campout type of event, and will be happy to extend invitations next year to others once we have this one "happily" completed. I'm sure you guys' with wives that have hosted "friends" know what I mean...

I'm sure some of the guys showing up may want to meet you in Wenatchee after dinner....that's their decision.

Thanks, and I hope you guys have a GREAT drive!, and no breakdowns!

regards,
Eric

jeffgrant 08-10-2005 05:26 PM

Excellent... I'm in. If anyone's met me, you'll know that I'm ALWAYS up for ice cream. ;)

In the words of Bill Cosby:

"I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream."

jeffgrant 08-10-2005 05:30 PM

Eric-

Have fun with your BBQ... don't worry about "not inviting me"... I wouldn't expect you to. Owning the same make of car only goes so far, if you know what I mean, and I think it would have been presumptious to assume that I was invited in the first place.

No need to feel aplogetic, IMO.

...jeff

rdane 08-10-2005 05:37 PM

Eric's (and his wife's) salmon party. Glad he jumped in. Thanks for the effort on both parts.

Cool, I know a few guys want to see the other cars. I'll bring more ice cream than all of us can eat. Bob is nice enough to look for a place to park and eat desert for Saturday.

Anyone have a special flavor they can't live without let me know.

Looks to be a great weekend for everyone!

Randy W 08-10-2005 05:59 PM

Thanks for posting Eric. I cannot think of a more gracious host.

I will not be joining you guys in Wenatchee - have enough on my plate, so to speak.

My goal is for everyone to have a good time. I hope you guys do too. :)

914Ghost 08-10-2005 07:11 PM

Right then.
Here's where we'll meet in Cashmere:
Coming from leavenworth, hang a right at the stoplight and go over the little bridge, and take the 1st left on Pleasant St.
There's a Good Ol' Boys BBQ joint on the corner- seriously, there is.
Go down the little street, and you get to the Riverfront Park, go around that little building and there's all kinds of parking.
As pictured, and it should be GREAT.
NOW, do we need to start a poll for Ice Cream Flavors?!
See ya!

Wow, this thread is sure confusing....

I would love to come for the event, and I'm sure to be one of the farther travellers, my plight is I just got back from holidays, and probably drove about 2000+ Kms, so how do I convince my wife now I want to take off drive solid for three days with a bunch of other Porsche nuts I've never met?

I'm sorry, I just can't afford any expensive jewelry right now ;)

I hope it will be a awesome event with no "issues" on both the car and personel levels, but I must wait until next year, and I guess it's Canada's turn again....hmmm, Banff, Jasper, Calgary.... :)

rdane 08-10-2005 08:17 PM

Cool Bob, thanks for the foot work today! I'm up early for a look see on Liberty Bell tomorrow if anyone wants to recon some of the route . See ya Saturday night. I'm a rocky road fan myself with some rainbow sherbet on the side.

alf 08-10-2005 08:17 PM

Y'all have a good time, i will be driving our family SUV to Oregon, Nevada and California to go rock hounding with the kids and then to a Japanese sword show in SF for me to spend lots of money :)

Take lots of pics and i particularly want to see a pic of Island and Dane shaking hands with Scooter standing in the middle, ala Clinton, Arafat and Sharon (or was that Benjamin N). :)

And Randy maybe U could give some of the R Gruppe Boyz a hint on the kinda tools they'll be needin on the run to keep from breakin down....but I just think they should find out where every Porsche mechanic is located on the run, cause they will probably be visitin them all....

Um, I take it back, um, keep your money...as a matter of fact, take mine. Um, nice Japanese sword you got there. ;)

Too bad you can't join us Alf. Enjoy your 16+ hour drive each way with the wife and three kids in the back of an air conditioned SUV.

But seriously, maybe we can get the Roach out on our next drive?

Geez, Alf, that IS harsh. ;)

The petty issue here is Dane once had this event planning responsibility . .. but then dropped it in favor of some of his other events. (a one car ill climb, Sioux Falls .. ) e wants to blame it on other people as being irresponsible, but ... here he is now that the drive is back on, throwing around personal insults, and (not so) veiled threats . . .AND Treats! (so we're all cool, now)

.. . "want some ice cream?" . .listen for the music . .and come a run'n.

For the record, I'm the one that decided to cancel the Round-Up earlier this year...for a variety of reasons.

If your must know the reasons you can PM me...I'm not going to air them here.

Oh, and I agree with Jeff. We're all looking like idiots.

Gunter 08-11-2005 08:54 AM

Good point, Drago-Marc (or Mark?):
Does that mean you won't have any ice cream, Glenn?

What does it all matter when we boogie down on #20 with the sunroof open and the fuzzbuster on high alert?
There are so many real problems in the world that this squabble has as much importance as a rolling fart on a curtain rod.
I probably will have a Heineken instead of ice cream after a hot day and I'll bring one for Dane and Glenn. SmileWavy

Drago-Man: Since you are about 6'6", can you step in as the peace maker, but also crack the whip on the we-are leaving-at-eight-at the latest-rule? ;)
