Question Need dimensions and pic’s of longnose trunk, please.

I’m about to convert my ’73 back to a longhood. It was converted to a G-model when I bought it. The G-model front panel is of, and now the new (f-model) front panel is going on. I would appreciate if someone would be so kind to measure the dimensions of the trunk on their longhood (>73). Please see the picture where to take the measurements. It would be very nice to have the dimensions to go by.

I have tried to find an original early car around where I live, but with no luck.

It would also be very nice with some close up pictures of the front corners of the trunk.

I believe that many early cars are converted to G-models. I have taken a lot of pic’s and I’m planning to make a thread when I’m finished to help others that want to convert back to original.

This is how it looks now:

Appreciate any help I can get.

Carsten

I measure 44.75 inches bending the tape down the fender mating line on each side from the inner corner of the trunk to the inner edge of the panel that contains the trunk latch. both distances were the same...guess I check out.

I could not get a proper linear distance. I did not measure the center distance.

25.4mm = 1 inch

if this doesn't make sense, let me know.

I thought the Bismark used to cruise in Danish waters?

{ok, that was a joke...}

Thanks a lot, sjd. That was exactly the measurements I needed. I can do without the centre dimension. It’s hard to measure correctly anyway.

A good thing the two dimensions turned out to be the same ;-) Quite a headache if not…

Mikez, I want to make it original again. Both for my own satisfaction and the resell value, if I’m going to sell it one day. Besides, the G-model front panel is already cut off, and I have all the F-model parts ready to put on.

Well, Bismarck actually cruised through Danish waters to get out into the Atlantic. Occupied or not, there was not a lot we Danes could have done to prevent that form happening. But that’s another story and forum…

Meantime, there is not a lot of resemblance between the Krupp steel of the Bismarck and the rusty thin plates of my Porsche… I have a lot of work left to do, before it will be back on the road. Just finished removing rust and sound isolation from the floor. What a pain...

Yes, it would be very nice if someone would confirm it. Maybe Lorne would help?
