Side to side movement in throttle control rack - 2.4 MFI

I seem to have a lot of side to side movement in the main throttle control rack (bit that attaches to both stacks) on my 2.4 MFI motor. It probably moves a total of 1.5 inches side to side. The switch for the control soleniod has been removed by P.O.

Is this amount of side play normal?

that's strange

the bar is supposed to be held in place , by the intake stacks... and that's not a variable distance... once the stacks are in place, the bar is supposed to be stuck in between

all i could think of , is that the bearing insert , in the throttle stacks has gone missing... other than that , i don't see how this could be possible
