Engine drop question

In the 101 projects book project number seven, step 4 and in the Bentley book page 101-5. What purpose does the removal of the clutch positioning lever serve? Does this need to be done to get the engine/transmission out of the car or only if the two plan to be separated.

I may need to do a drop to fix some oil leaks but have no plan to separate the engine from the transmission as a new clutch was put in when I bought the car.

If you don't plan to separate engine and tranny, then you can leave it alone. If separating, it's a lot easier to do this stuff while it's still in the car than once it's on the ground and you can't get underneath it anymore.

I decided to replace the clucth after I had the engine out, and removing the helper spring, and lever sleeve was not terrible on the floor, but I waited until I had the motor back in to re-install it.
