Removing fan from alternator?

Hi there,

Anyone have a good way to remove the fan from the alternator? Is a press required? Car has 2.7 with updated alternator.

Thanks

Dave

I have removed fans from two alternators recently. Both times I was able to remove the fan by supporting the fan with two 2x4's keeping the alternator off the bench. Using moderate taps from my rubber dead blow hammer each fan slipped loose. The rubber dead blow hammer provides enough force with out damage to the alternator or shaft.

No need for a press or a puller. It's held on by a tight fit on a straight shaft with a Woodruff key. Keep on tappin'
