Wevo shifter: Billet or Black
I am planning on adding a WEVO shifter kit. Now I need to decide whether to order it billet or anodized black. The black does look cool...but in my searches I can't seem to find a picture of the billet lever...although I am pretty sure I remember having seen pictures in the past.
and yes....I understand that if I spend the next 30 years driving the 915 transmission I will eventually become more proficient on 2nd to 3rd shifts and 5th to 4th downshifts on the track. But ...just because you CAN get used to it doesn't mean it's good. Matt 73 911 with 78 3.0...still sepia brown |

So are you asking if the WEVO is worth it, or for an opinion on what color?
The former can be answered with a search. The latter is up to you. Billet = plain aluminum alloy finish. Black anodized = basically flat black.

Go with waht feels right to you with respect to shifting. Black = less bling so if you want bling, go with the billet Al.

If it's fully exposed, as in a track car, and you have little or no interior, I'd go billet. If it's a street car with an interior, I'd go black.

have any of you put a boot over yours? It's a piece of eye candy for sure but there's a lot of dust and dirt that gets in there and I have to believe it'll impact the longevity. I would like to keep it out. Before I buy a cheap boot at autozone I want to see what others have done. Thanks.

This is my biggest complaint with the Wevo: You can't get it in a standard shifter style (bent shifter). Black is the way to go, BTW.

Wevo does offer the classic shifter (bent style)
You can use a regular shift knob |

Check out there website, it does show it there.
It does not really show a actual pic of the classic shifter, but they do offer it. www.wevo.com |

Old school porsche fans dont like to mess with the shifting but...Black billit looks awesome. I am contemplating the same purchase and not sure if I should buy the Wevo shifter or the Robotek. 300$ difference.

You can get an adapter from Wevo to use a momo shift knob. He's also comming out with some different shift knob versions. I saw them the last time I was at his shop, but don't know if the're available yet.

one drive in the wevo shifting and I do no think I like the old school shifting, especially through winding roads, much smoother and precise than stock.
Shorter throw as well. Best to try it out, some may have different opinions |
