Oil line removal
So the oiltank to thermostat line started spewing oil all over the place last week (just in time for me to miss a track day
![]() As I'm yanking away at the fitting trying not to bend the thermostat, I'm thinking - sure would be nice to better grip on this thing (not too much room and you have the wrench at an angle). So I have a thought ![]() ![]() ![]() The new oil line looks very pretty. Stef |

You need to be careful w/ that method. Sometimes the t-stat threads come off w/ the nut.

Well, I guess I got lucky then. Still, I 'd decided that a couple of hits with the impact gun set on low torque was better than yanking on the fitting hoping that I didn't bend or break anything further down the line.

Yup, it's a biotch when the tStat threads come off with the nut but I was able to fix mine...

A relatively safe method is to use a cut off tool to cut the nut. Then use an impact hammer to push the bolt apart and away from the threads. Still leak free 4 months later.

Yep, you're better off removing it slowly, by hand.
I did the cut the line and impact method, but I lost about half the threads on my t'stat. Luckily there were enough left to seal! At best, use the impact to just break it loose, then oil and back and forth by hand the rest of the way, ianc
