Need a selling price for my 82 SC

A fellow PCA member called today to ask if I would be interested in selling my SC. He seems quite enamored with it, although he has never ridden in it. The prospective buyer just sold his immaculate 86 944 turbo. We have not discussed a price for my SC.
Based on the following info, please help me fairly price my car.

1982 SC Coupe Euro Version for West Germany
63,000 miles
Gaurds Red, Black leatherette int
Spoilers, front and rear
Polished 16x7 Fuchs
Michelin Pilots- 85%
Pioneer CD Player
Tensioner and popoff updates
Air Conditioning
NO sunroof
Power windows and mirrors
Bursch Muffler
Tool Kit
Repainted front pan, rockers, and rear valence
New Alternater and starter
H-4s

I bought this car from the second owner in Feb 94 with his records back to 1986 and 1069 miles. The story is that the original owner bought the car in Germany, drove it for a month, shipped it back to the US, then died of cancer ayear later. The car sat until the second owner was guided to it.

This SC is all original other than the listed up dates and has been garaged all its life. It starts and runs great. I am not in a hurry to sell it.

Thoughts and opinions appreciated.

In your position I would shoot for 20 or 22, if he wants the car so bad. It is desirable with no sunroof, later euro SC motor, and low miles.

25K at least! Right guys? (Edit: Ok I was kidding 9-15K, wide range, but the final price is between you and the buyer. If both parties are happy...then be happy. )

Ask the former 944T guy what he thinks its worth.
The numbers you get here will be all over the board.

Nice car ! I'd keep it

I agree with Kurt about 15K. If you are not interested in a quick sale ask about 17.5 K. Nice car.

A co-worker of mine just bought the same year of car, same mileage range and owner history. He paid $16,500 and the car is immaculate with some mechanical updates (clutch, shocks, brakes)

So, I say $16-17K. Try your local paper or Autotrader. Someone will buy it. Good luck.

Your SC is a gem. Don't sell it for < 20k, IMHO.

You always have the option of keeping it in your garage. Who knows what you are up to in ten years?

You may also try selling in on Ebay Germany.

Good luck,
Frank

I spent some time looking for an origional SC and have come to 1 conclusion. The fetching price seems to be dictated by the geographic location. Cars in the mid atlantic region are not moving at all or going for much less that say the left coast. I finaly found the objest of my quest 82 SC all origional including the chain tentioners(not for long though) 100k with very litle needed. I spent 11.5.
Since the buyer asked you to sell I would not go under 20g. If the car doesn't sell well you still have the fun of owning a very nice car. This is all my opinion and we al know what they are like.
Very nice car

At the Monterey Sports and Classic Auction this past weekend, a 1981 911SC modified coupe sold for $27,500. A 1970 911T Targa went for $23,100.

I mostly agree with all these replies. 15-17k is what it is worth in reality. but are you really wanting ot get rid of it? why not keep it? sounds like you are considering selling only cause someone asked?

btw thats a gorgeous SC!

Thanks guys for all the feed back and opinions. I am leaning towards keeping it, but the wife would rather have some thing more modern?

$10K max.

The buyer would have to budget for:

- Clutch replacement
- Head studs. More likely to fail on low mileage cars in humid climates (East Coast)
- Rust around the front wind shield, common on these cars
- Other misc.

No sunroof. Impeccable history. Euro SC engine. Gotta be worth around 20k. How often, really, do you see a car like this?

Agree on the clutch replacement if this is on the original rubber centered clutch (which would be near-miraculous).

Head studs.... well you'd better budget for that on any SC. The best you can do is determine they are all intact at time of purchase.

Rust around the windshield?! Wouldn't the buyer only need to budget for that if there actually was rust?

"Other misc." ... yeah.

Thats like saying a Dixie-cup is better than a crystal glass . . .because Dixie-cup is more modern.
