I was very lucky.
PCA DE is very active and I had already attended tech sessions, etc.
so they already knew where my head's at and my car.. meaning I just drove around the country directly after a rebuild and if this thing was going to blow it's going to blow today. I pulled thru red line at speed on a bank as much as possible on day two.. very cool.

They really wanted me to leave charged up. I was handed around all weekend to work a different thing. And I rode a few sessions with an instructor's carbed 3.0 914-6. The first time he control powered thru a twistie I barked "carbs, that was carbs that allowed you to do that". I was ecstatic.

I was very lucky to be with the people..

Keep her eyes in the rear-view as a courtesy of others. My first impressions of driving at a DE unfortunately was following slower drivers for laps and laps before getting around, only to get behind another car for more of the same. Not to sound cynical, but if you have any hesitation about doing these, it may best to observe for a couple of weekends to see it its for you.

You should have spoken with the head instructor about it. In green run group, the instructor (a good one anyway) should be aware of cars behind and telling the student to look and when to give the pass signal. It's a bit much to ask, especially in the first couple runs of someone brand new to it, to "get" everything during the first time out. The problem is exascebated by the fact that there is such a variety of cars on the track. A 912 will not be running with a 997S or a GT3 if all are at the same level.

My guess is she will have a great time and want MORE!

Yeah, Steve picks all the events I don't attend. Pari has his own special approach to not being passed...but that story is for another day.

The key to her enjoyment of this first DE is NO PRESSURE!!!! Keep it relaxed and don't try to school her. Also, her instructor will know she's a newbie so you don't need to work out anything special with the chief instructor.

I did a clinic in my Carrera, but had the 993 for the first full DE. It was a very big rush. Pray you get a cool instructor. That can make all the difference in the world. It probably goes on in other regions too, but there are usually a lot of egos in the paddock. Sometimes the attitude is thick enough to cut with a knife. So go in with very thick skin and a super attitude and don't sweat the small stuff.

If you know of a great instructor that will be attending the event don't hesitate to contact the registrar and request him for your wife. Many regions (mine included) have been known to honor requests if given enough time to arrange them...
