Heat smells of burned oil
A few months ago my car had a oil leak coming from the "oil pressure sender" which in turn must of dripped somewhere where my heat comes from - "heat exchanger?"
Now that its getting cold - every time I turn the heat on it smell really bad. Could there still be another leak? What can I do to prevent me & my passengers from the fumes? |

It is ery easy for oil to leak into the "human" side of the heat exchanger system. It's likely that you are sensing the residuals from the previous leak.
The only solution is to clean them out. Best advice I can give to try steam cleaning off the car. If you try chemical cleaners beware their residuals

Sounds right. Also, keep a nostril open for an abrupt change in heat "smell" from oil residue to something more like burning rubber. I'm not sure what year your 911 is but if you have a heater blower, this rubber smell is the blower motor burning out. While mine did not flame out, I have heard on this forum of fires from these blowers as they fail.

Bello... where are you at?
I drove my car up to Red Deer this morning with the heat on... the trick is to dillute the stink with a cracked window.

It's an 88 Cab.
Steam clean? Can I do this myself - does the car need to be raised |
