Please, quick starter question

Based on various suggestions I replaced my starter due to some really horrible sounds when the starter was running. At a PCA breakfast I ran into a local Pcar wrench who suggested I try a rebuilt starter he had so now it's installed but I have a question about the wires. The new/rebuilt starter has a main threaded bolt and they said the same two wires go there as before which are the large black cable and the medium sized red wire and it has TWO threaded bolts with tabs on them vs. my old starter which just had one. The tech said I need to hook up the single yellow wire to one of the tabs which is sort of a "double" tab and not the threaded tab that was in the same relative place as my old starter. I'm just checking here to see if anyone else has hooked up a new starter and wired it in this configuration.
BTW, if his instructions are wrong and I try to start the car how much damage will be done, if any?
TIA

Buck,
The big black wire brings the juice direct from the battery to the starter. It always has battery voltage. The red wire piggybacks on it and brings the juice back to the engine compartment, landing at the multiconnector on the left side under the removable cover.
So they are both connected at the battery, big threaded connector.
The other wire brings the juice from the ignition switch only when the engine is cranked and the solenoid is energised.
His instructions sound right to me.
Ned
