Sorry Guys, I Just Don't Like It.

Sorry, I just don't like the new Cayman. Looks too long and too un-Porsche like (at least to me).

That's O.K. Lots of people are stuck in the eighties. Especially on this board.

Some even think that accordian bumpers are the single most defining design element of the 911, and as such, early cars and '90 and newer cars are ugly.

I guess everyone gets zapped by Porsches styling at a different era, and that sticks with you.

I kind of like it but I also agree that what did it for me was the bumper treatment in 1978. I knew then that some day I would have one of those and I couldn't be happier. I almost waited for the Cayman since it will probably drive like a dream but it also will be too refined (read - to quiet).

Re: Sorry Guys, I Just Don't Like It.

This series of pictures is squished down, making it look longer and lower and flatter than in other pictures I've seen. In fact one of the pictures has a Ford GT (GT-40) look to it because it's so distorted.

It's a nice car, starting to grow on me - not seen the real thing yet though.

Are you guys kidding.

This car looks great. Looks more like the old hard top 356 racers, or the 906, but with new flair.

The boxter was a chick car, but this not. It still has the mid-engine design, so it should be great on the track. Looks very distinctive. No one will say, is that a 911 or a cayman.

First thing from Porsche that I have thought about buying since the 993.

Tyson Schmidt , thats to funny but it is exactly right, I like em all, as alwasy just like the 996 to 997 the designers will come up with something to change it a little to make it cool when sales start falling hint boxter to caymen, Kevin

You said a mouthful there Tyson....those ugly accordian bumpers are why I went on a hunt for my current car, back in 1974. I'm still waiting for Porsche to produce something better looking.

The roof line looks "911" to me ! I don't know a 996 from a 997 I think I could pick a 993 out of a crowd of new cars but not sure.

From the top of the fenders down I'm lost on anything past 1973.5 :-)
I like the new car, don't want one but still like it.

For those of you that were around, remember the dog dodoo that hit the fan when the 914 came out.

Boxster a chick car? Yeah whatever. I don't own one but after seeing them at a recent autocross, I am now a believer. They were in the lower classes (whatever that means) with the 911 SC's, and 944. They just seem to moving at light speed compared to the others. I own a 3.0 so as much as it hurts me to say, it is what I saw.

I had a November production slot for Speed Yellow, but really, really wanted a paint to sample car. So once Porsche will accept my new order for Paint to sample (Fishvan blue ), I'll be one happy camper. The extra wait is going to kill me. I think it will be worth it though.
Here is the photoshop from the color of my race car.

Nice Blue! From what I understand, the Cayman looks better in person than the photos. It is so full of curves that two dimensions (in pix) do not do it justice. The only thing i think is a tad goofy is how the cockpit looks 'bubblish' but I would be proud to have one in my garage anyhow.

Oh, I believe the point he was trying to make is that production of real 911's stopped in 1989 with the Carrera

I'm with the "I like the car" contingent. If you want to keep living in the past fine, but Porsche has to sell what most people want to buy.

Oh, I forgot that my C2 is not a "real" Porsche. LOL. I never get enough of that joke.

The Cayman rear end looks like a cross between a 350Z and an Audi TT.
