Removing a/c evap box-disconnect this?

I am trying to remove the evaporator box as a whole so I don't have to mess with those clips.

I removed the passenger side vent tube, but it seems there is something connected to the bottom that won't allow me to lift out the box.

I removed the wooden floor board and found this..

Yes. Remove it and the evap box will come right out. (It contains the "bimetallic switch" aka thermostatic switch.) Air is drawn in through that opening, cooled, and blown out the dashboard vents.

Yes, that trapezoidal? duct extends inside the evaporator box. It has to come out first. Ken
